Guten Morgen! (Good Morning)

We have had an incredible first week here at the bibelschule. We arrived last weekend to freezing weather and woke up to snow.  I looked out the window of our one bedroom apartment and screamed to Jeff to come quick and see! It was a winter wonderland.  We spent the weekend getting to know the students and staff.  There are 70 of us here. Half are from Germany and 10 other countries and the other half are Americans.  We go to the Calvary Chapel here in Seigen with 1000 adults.  It was awesome. Check out the website www.Calvarychapelsiegen.de

Jeff is teaching Acts and I am teaching Ruth and Esther.  We are teaching Missions together. We have 15 to 20 kids in our classes. So far they are all very glad to learn and excited to be here. We have Chapel every morning with all 70 of us.  This morning I spoke on Ruth Ch 3 about Taking Risks. Jeff will speak at Chapel tomorrow. You can pray for him as he is sick right now, but healing.

We have started a young marrieds bible study for the 4-5 staff couples here. Half of them are German.  We also are doing pre-marital counseling to one of the students who is engaged to a German gal. We have a home group of bible college students as well on Wednesday nights.

The whole school went to a castle on Sat in Eisenach, 2 hours away,  where Martin Luther and Bach lived lived.  It was beautiful and a fun day with the students.

Please pray for us here that we would stay healthy. Pray we would be able to inspire these kids to greatness. Pray for our two home groups as well. Pray I will pick the right gals As I will be starting discipleship groups with gals.

Until the whole world knows!

Guten Tag, (Good day!)

It’s been 2 weeks since our last update and the snow has melted! We did have fun  riding our bikes over it and hearing the crunch, crunch! The weather is still cold, in  the 20’s – 40’s. Thanks for praying for our health. Jeff got well, but I got sick along  with most of the students here.  We are all well now!  Teaching has been fun, the  students are great and really want to learn. We’ve had time to get to know them by going  hiking on the beautiful trails.  Several of the girls have come to bake cookies before my  Ruth and Esther class. Finding ingredients has been a fun adventure!

We have a couple of funny German stories. We went to get a sandwich  in Siegen(15  minute bike ride along the river)and asked for mustard. She said “yellow” and  we agreed.  It came back with a sliced hard boiled egg on it! Oh well, it was yellow!

Also when went to the toilet in the gas station it costs .50E(75cents) When you flush,  the seat has a self wash, it comes up, sprays water and does a 360 revolution. I was so  shocked and amazed I came out and all the German students were laughing at me!

Last night we got adopted!  The church gets us together with a German speaking family  to help us in the culture and get to know life here.  We have such a great couple and  already stayed in the coffee shop last night till it closed just talking and laughing  with them.  We are looking forward to getting to know them each week at church and doing  fun things together.

Please pray for us as we have the opportunity to lead and outreach team with 6-8  students for a week.  We are considering going to Sweden to help the church there. Pray  for the right contacts and arrangements to be made. Also pray for Jeff as he has gotten  several speaking opportunities at churches in Germany.

We love you all and are praying for you!

Tschuss(Bye!)

The last two weeks have been wunderbar.  Thanks for all your prayers, and emails!  We are praying for you, so send those requests. We had a great parenting/marriage seminar here. For free resources check out this web site: parentingministry.org for info and help.

Our classes are going great. We pray we are giving more than just facts and info but are changing lives. We have had awesome opportunities to minister and disciple the students.

This weekend we had another great German experience!  The autobahn! We drove a van and could go 140K (85mph) but the other cars were flying by at 190K (115+mph). It was wild trying to navigate but we made it! We traveled 2.5 hours south to Grundstadt where Jeff preached at the CC there. We also went to another CC and led worship and taught the evening service.  A wonderful family hosted us and they lived right next to a vineyard. We walked through it and saw a beautiful view of the valley. There are park benches and bike paths in the vineyard that the city provides. It is ok to just pick a handful of grapes as you stroll through (no grapes now)!  Please pray with us about coming back for Easter and bringing a team of students for outreach and evangelism.  Pray we can get the van to do this.

We also asked you to pray about the Sweden outreach in April. God has opened the door to help at CC Finland. We will take a team of 7-10 for the week. Pray for the planning of this next week.

The couple that adopted us will take us to a pro fossball (soccer) game this weekend. Her brother is one of the players. We will travel past Koln (1hour) and then have dinner at another German couples home!  We love these cultural experiences. Jeff is excited since he has been playing soccer each Sat morning with students here!

We have several more opportunities to speak at CC’s in Germany. Pray for one this Wed night.

We love you all and are praying! Auf Wiedersehen! (good bye!)

Dear Friends and prayer partners!

Wie gehts!  (Whatzup)

We hope that this finds you full of true joy, which only comes from our Father above!  We  are still very excited to be here, and allow God to use us (sometimes I question His judgment!).  Thank you for your prayers and support that makes it all possible.

Last update, we asked for prayers regarding Sweden.  Well, we will go with our team of 8  to Finland the 3rd week of April, as part of the school’s outreach week.  We will assist  the church with Bible studies, sermons, a ladies tea, street witnessing (most speak  English), and encouraging the Calvary Chapel pastor and body there! We leave April 18.   Keep praying.

Thanks for prayers regarding speaking engagements.  They have gone well, and I have only  one open Sunday left, so keep praying!  Often we bring a van full of students with us.   We did this at Easter.  It was a great time.  We did street witnessing with the teens,  and ate several meals, as well as a bible study together!

Our kids got to come for a week (a Christmas gift).  They were greeted by cold and 3 days  of snow.  It was fun.  Both kids helped me lead worship during chapel one day!  We did  visit a few places, but mainly stayed here, and they went to classes with us, and we spent good time together.  We see them again when we return June 13…

Our German friends took us to a soccer game.  I have been to many sporting events back  home, but this was crazy, and it was only a level B team!  50K in the rain, chanting  almost all game, memorizing songs, almost all wearing hats, scarfs, and jackets  embroidered, paying $, traveling far.  If we Christians were only 1/2 as excited about  Jesus!

Besides all our classes and regular ministries, we are discipling others too.  I am  discipling my German landlord (with a translator)!  Pray for Matthias.  We are also  taking good leftover food and sharing it downtown, to the hungry, in the name of Jesus!

When we return, we plan to rent, as our home will be rented another year.  If you or any  one you know needs a “house sitter” or “pet sitter” for the 4 of us,  until we get settled, that would be a blessing!  send us an email, if you do!

Ciao!

Hope you enjoy the pics!

Moi, (Hello in Finnish)

Kiitos(thank you!) for praying for us in Finland! We had an awesome 9 days. The  weather was much warmer than expected (in the 40’s & 50’s)and no rain! Yea!! We were able  to encourage the church there by doing 6 different bible studies and Sunday messages.

Each student gave their testimony at one of these events. We went out street witnessing  and saw several come to know Jesus. Our team was really unified and each gave a  devotional/bible study each morning. For some of them this was their first time leading  bible studies and street witnessing. We saw growth in our own team as well as got to  encourage Pastor Bob, worship leader Aaron and their wives Mari and Sarah. Pray for both  gals as they are pregnant and due in 1-2 months. As we flew home, we noticed the German  country side is so alive! All that was dormant is now full of leaves and blossoms. Death  has come to life! We have also have seen this spiritually too!

We are on the home stretch of school. Pray we will finish well and get all our papers  and final tests graded. A group from CCSB will be coming to put on a Leadership  conference here in Siegen. Jeff and I are excited to be able to be here and help out and serve with them. We also have several more opportunities to speak at churches and a  Retreat in Austria as well. Pray for us as we travel and minister here in Europe.

Answers to prayers from our last update! 1.Discipling has been going well for both  of us (Jeff has German friend to take over discipling our landlord when we leave) 2. God  has provided a place to stay for the first month we return. If any of you need a house

sitter after July 12th, Let us know. We look forward to more permanent housing in  September.

We love you all! Moi Moi (good bye in Finnish)

PS. Enjoy the Finland team photos!

Guten Tag! Wie Gehts! (Good afternoon, How are you?) What a great semester we just  finished. We enjoyed teaching so much. The students finished well last week with finals and graduation. There were 16 graduates, a record number for the school. We have been  saying goodbye to kids who are going back to their homes, 11 different countries.  One of  our original prayers was to help encourage others to great things for Jesus!  Some of the students we work with are hoping to go plant churches, be a bible translator, run an  orphanage, lead youth groups, disciple others, as well as being faithful in their walk  with Jesus.  Truly God’s light is shinning bright through many of them.  I know many others had great influence too, but to be a small part is awesome.  You too, are part of  this ministry.  Thanks for prayers and support that make it happen! This weekend we’re in a small village near Frankfurt where Jeff is preaching. It’s been great to experience such incredible German hospitality.  Tomorrow Ricky, our Pastor, and  the CCSB team come to put on a leadership conference for over 200 people.  We are excited to help out, and serve together.

Thursday we will drive to Austria (8 hours) to speak at a CC church retreat at the castle.  Please pray for safe travels and for us as we prepare to speak 8 times.  Bonnie does one, and we do one together on marriage.   We get to visit one of our German  students in Lucerne, Switzerland for a few days afterwards.

Jeff will be the Pastor on a cruise ship going to Scandinavia for the 13 days after  that.  There will be a daily service and we are praying for divine appointments to share Jesus with those on the ship.  Pray many would come to know Him!

Our return date is June 13th. Thanks for all your prayers these past months as we have been away.  We will be house sitting this summer as we look forward to what God has next for us.  I will be working at the tennis club dong the Café again with Danny and  maybe Monica.  Jeff will return to home loans.  We have a place for the first month.  If you know of anyone who needs house sitting July 12th – August, let us know.  We have loved all your emails and love and support while we have been serving in Germany. It  means so much to us.  We have been praying for you too!  See you in 3 weeks.  Photo from last weekend!

Dear friends!

We are home- where ever home is?  We are back, house sitting in SB (thru July, still need

Aug).  It is great to see friends, and hope to see many of you!

Our last few weeks in Europe were very exciting!

Bonnie and I want to say a big THANK YOU to all who prayed for us, and supported us.  We

fully believe that God was so faithful, and to Him be the glory.  What I write next is   for HIS glory, not ours!

As great as teaching was, it was probably about 1/2 of our ministry.  We spent much time with the students, eating 2 meals a day w/ them, hiking, biking, praying, counseling, etc.  Bonnie and I each also discipled several students, which, as some of you know, is a special blessing!  We were able to do premarital counseling with 2 couples, and share our notes with several pastors for their future use.  We also did a food ministry, taking leftover food, and sharing it with those less fortunate.  I had the privilege of speaking  almost 50 times outside of classes.  We would often bring a team of students with us to  help do ministry while at churches, etc.  Even more exciting than that, was being able to  give several students 8 opportunities to speak!  Wow.

One of our goals was to help students be empowered for ministry.  Thanks Lord!  I would love to tell you about Matthias, Orlando, Maarten, and Bonnie would love to tell you about Faith, Anne Marie, Wendy, and Bev too!  Ask us?

The conf in May was a HUGE blessing to leaders from 11 countries.  We left early for the retreat we spoke at in Austria.  I was reminded, if we are faithful to speak His word, He can break any barriers!  People were repenting, being filled w/ the HS, forgiveness was flowing!  God worked, even through us! The cruise went well, many were encouraged as I

got to be the ship’s pastor. Bonnie is now back at the cafe, and I am doing loans.  We are praying for His will for our future, and we promise to let you know.  Please pray with us, ok? Again, hope to see you, maybe in our new clothes (see attached)

Love you!
