Mexico 09-16

Slideshow from our time in Rosarito, Mexico! CHECK IT OUT!!!

9/12/09

Hola Amigos,

Bonnie and I have now been in Mexico for 2 weeks. It was been awesome. We have met hundreds of sweet people, and struggle to remember so many names. How great that we have time to learn them all, and love them all, at least in heaven if not here!

Short Version:

Great place to live, already had visitors, You can come too!

Bible College has “hungry” students, all in Spanish.

Calvary Chapel Rosarito is on fire, what a church! Lots of ministry opportunities that need prayer.

Danny/Sarah’s wedding was wonderful, Monica student teaching.

Long Version:

Upon arrival, our home is so nice, with ocean views too! Yes, I have been surfing often! The first group of 4 visitors came from SB lead by Rod Walters, what a blessing. He hopes to bring a work crew down in Nov. to do construction and outreach! If you want to come, that would be awesome. You will need a passport! (they take 4-6 weeks)

Teaching an hour away in Ensenada, at the Calvary Chapel Bible College is great. The students are hungry. Everything needs to be translated, including tests and homework! We are inviting all the students over next Sunday for lunch and the beach! Please PRAY that our Spanish improves, Bonnie has Rosetta Stone to help. Last week she got Montezuma’s, but quickly recovered.

The church here is on fire! Growing! The worship rocks and every service people get saved, and there are 4 services a week! There was a baptism already, w/ fish tacos! 26 got baptized! There is another already the end of the month! Bonnie today started a Women’s Bible study for English speakers, with over 20 signed up. We also hope to begin to disciple some men and women soon. Last Sat I spoke at the School of Ministry, today I speak at the Men’s Conference, and Sunday we begin a weekly parenting class! So glad our kids are so awesome! (ok, I am partial!) Pray please for all these ministries.

Speaking of our kids, Monica is enjoying student teaching, and will teach another small group BS. Danny and Sarah had a wonderful wedding and honeymoon. They also have some great housing, an answer to prayer. They are both looking for jobs, keep praying. Thanks.

We want to thank you as so many of you are praying for us, and are supporting us financially. God continues to provide through you, even in tough economic times. God bless you. Please continue to also send us YOUR prayer requests, we do pray!!! Enjoy the pics!

Hola, que tal? Hope all is going great with you!

SHORT VERSION

Calvary Chapel Rosarito, a very good church!

Ministries at church going well, new ones to start!

Bible College in Ensenada, week long outreach coming up.

Some wonderful visits already, and YOU can come in Nov to help!!!

LONG VERSION

Wow, the church here continues to rock for Jesus! We have 4 main services each week, About 5-6 are getting saved weekly. 46 have been baptized in the past month! And there was a baptizim in June and July too. There is a Bible College here in Rosarito, and the main one in Ensenada. They also have a school of ministry for those who have been through the 2 year program, and 7 paid interns to go with several staff! I will spend a full day training the interns this month. Martin was just ordained last Sunday. What is really cool is he got saved at an outreach we lead 5 years ago, from drugs and alcohol! God is SO good!

Bonnie’s ladies BS in english is going very well, with a monthly luncheon too! Our parenting classes are full too. This week we begin a home group for those engaged or married less than 2 years. We expect about 7-8 couples to come! It will be bi-lingual. Bonnie will start a Moms In Touch group to pray for ‘kids’ in 2 weeks.

Our ministry in Ensenada is fun too. We had 21 students over for church, lunch, and the beach/surfing! Classes are sweet, hungry students. I just began meeting weekly with 5 of the more mature students. Bonnie has been meeting with one of the young ladies 1-2x a week. We both have helpers to translate the homework of the students! But, we are learning more espanol! We will be doing a week long outreach end of Oct, 16 hours each way by car! Many of the students can not afford the $100. We are looking for an extra $900 for the students to be able to go on the outreach. If God puts it on your heart to give, please send it by the 15th, AND send me an email, so I can let admin know! Thanks for praying about this! Put a special note in that says it is for the outreach, not our regular support. We do thank each of you who give so we can be here, serving Him and these special people!

Monica came down while on a short break from school, and Danny and Sarah just left after 5 days with us! Hopefully they will both be working soon, but keep praying, and if you know of anything? They are in Santa Barbara. Also, we had a visit from Rick and Val DelCarlo and crew, taking 24 poor kids to the beach and for pizza, sodas, and game tokens! Wow, were they excited. We also did some songs and a story about building your life on the rock, not the ‘sand’. What a blessing it is to give!

Speaking of visits, we are excited that Rod Walters is bringing some of YOU Nov. 13-15 (Fri after work) to visit. 1. It is safe here, not to worry. 2. Passports are not mandatory! 3. There will be a Women’s conference needing a ‘great children’s program’, as well as helping cook and serve meals, and the construction of Pastor Jesus’ house needs to be finished! Contact Rod about coming! rod@acs-construction.com or call him at 805-453-9358. Space is limited!

We want to again thank you as so many of you are praying for us, and are supporting us financially. God continues to provide through you, even in tough economic times. God bless you. Please continue to also send us YOUR prayer requests, we do pray!!! Enjoy the pics!

Buenos tardes, esta bien? We love and miss you, thanks for praying!
SHORT VERSION
Newly marrieds group off to great start. Moms in Touch too.
Intern day, good!

Week long outreach coming up Tuesday.
Some wonderful visits already, and YOU can come in Nov to help!!! Even if you can not come, maybe you can help?

LONG VERSION

We have met 2x with the newly marrieds group, and had 8 and 9 couples fit into our living room! Cozy. It is bilingual, with many ‘mixed’ couples! We also did a training for those who want to do ‘pre martial counseling’. 18 people showed up, with Bonnie, I and the translator, 21 in our living room! One couple starts this weekend. Pray we can truly help all these people, 24-61 years young!

The Moms In Touch group to pray for ‘kids’ has met 2x. There are about 10 ladies, 2 of them are bilingual, and will break off a group soon in Spanish. Our kids are doing well, Sarah started a new job this week! Danny has an offer, and is waiting about another offer! Thanks for praying!

Last Monday we took 8 ‘interns’ from our Rosarito church to Ensenada with us. They are in a 2 year program as ‘staff in training’. They sat in my Inductive Bible Study class, ate with the other students. I did a teaching on developing a deeper relationship with Jesus. Then we hiked (won’t do that again! oh well 🙂 Then stopped at our home for coffee, cake and ice cream.

On Tuesday we leave for a week long outreach with 31 others. 14 hours each way by bus! We will be in Bahia Kino, at a Calvary Chapel. Bonnie and I will each be speaking at least 2x. Pray for God to touch lives and bring many to salvation and growth! Thanks for your generousity, we were hoping to raise $900 extra for those that could not afford it, so far we have commitments of $715! Praise Jesus! We do thank each of you who give so we can be here, serving Him and these special people!

My parents and brother came for a great visit. Eating out, beach, and our great Wed pm service!
Speaking of visits, we are excited that Rod Walters is bringing some of YOU Nov. 13-15 (Fri after work) to visit. 1. It is safe here, not to worry. 2. Passports are not mandatory! 3. There will be a Women’s conference needing a ‘great children’s program’, as well as helping serve meals, and the construction of Pastor Jesus’ house needs to be finished! Contact Rod about coming! rod@acs-construction.com or call him at 805-453-9358.

For you SB folks. We are also looking for items to be raffled off for the ladies conference. New or slightly used are ok. Anything a lady would want, for the kitchen or house. For example: soaps, lotions, candles, baskets, picture frames, utensils, stationary etc. There are also 45+ young children (ages 3-12) that the church picks up for Sunday school in a bus from the poor areas of Rosarito. These children have very few things. I have plastic ice cream buckets here and would love to fill them with items for the children. For example: pens, pencils, binder paper, or colored paper, toys, books tennis balls, socks, small stuffed animals, tooth brushes, soaps and shampoos, and lotions from hotels. All these items can be slightly used as well as any new things.

Please drop off any items at the front desk at CCSB church or give them to Shayne Khan who works at the front desk.
We want to again thank you as so many of you are praying for us, and are supporting us financially. God continues to provide through you, even in tough economic times. God bless you. Please continue to also send us YOUR prayer requests, we do pray!!! Enjoy the pics!

1/21/10

Hola, we have had a great break! Hope all is great with you!
Short version: Christmas Break

Back to Mexico w/ family.

Visit to Santa Barbara and SLO

Maui no ka oi.

Mission trip to San Quintin. Prayer and sponsors needed.

Long Version:

After Christmas, we went back to Mexico w/ 9 family members! It was great to have them in our world and meeting our new friends. That Sunday they helped us feed a group of 30 poor kids pancakes, teach about Jesus, and make graham cracker candy houses. The next day, in Tijuana about 200 kids showed up for hot dogs and a gift, as well as the gospel! Our family team was full of joy, loving on these kids! We also surfed (broken boards!) and ate well!

We got to spend almost 2 weeks in Santa Barbara with Danny and Sarah. They are doing great in their new home. We also got to visit with many of you or see you at church! Bonnie and I both got to share at several Bible studies too. The 1st Sunday back was missions Sunday, so we got to do worship and teaching all 3 services with the kids. Inbetween services we were on the patio maning our ‘ministy table’. The premartial counseling went well that week too. For one night we got to visit Monica in San Luis Obispo and meet her sweet roommates!

Right now we are in Maui! (Some of you no longer like us! LOL.) What a blessing! Free miles= free flight, a very generous friend/mentor w/ a condo, and Christmas gifts, how could we resist? Bonnie and I have struggled about sharing this with you, but we want you to rejoice with us as well as pray with and for us. We love you guys, and thank you for being on our team, holding us up in prayer!

On Sat we arrive back in Mexico for a wedding! Sunday morning we have a another meeting for our mission trip, with the Calvary Chapel Rosarito that we are leading, to San Quintin with the Calvary Chapel Rosarito that we are leading. (4 hours south) We have well over 65 signed up to go, and plan on about 30-40 actually going! Please PRAY that HE picks the perfect team! Also, PRAY for finances for this. Several have asked about helping sponor others on the trip ($25 each). Help is great and encouraged, thank you. Please mark on your donation “special” for any part that goes towards sponsoring another to go. (PLEASE email us your intention as we will not see the statement until about Feb 20, long after trip is over.) Thanks! Thanks too again, for all your prayers and financial support!

2/10/10

Hola,

SHORT VERSION

Fantastic mission/outreach to San Quintin (6 hours south)

Pray for Patti, she ran from rehab.

Classes back in full swing at church and Bible College!

Long Version

Wow, where to start? Prayer! Thanks for all who prayed! God has heard and answered! BUT, don’t stop now!

42 did go to San Quintin, the bus was slow and took 6 hours, but we became more a ‘team’ on the way! So much happened. We demoed and framed a casa, had 3 team devotions, lead a marriage evening, Vacation Bible School, had an amazing youth nite, and did the worship and message on Sunday, followed by feeding the whole church! The only thing Bonnie and I did up front was the message on Sunday (me). We were so impressed at what a great job our Mexican “family” did! Over 25 adults were saved, and many kids and youth! Our youth “hit the streets” to invite people to the events, and to Jesus! Over 15 got saved this way! God used our “kids”! Also, during the youth event, 15 of us prayed for almost an hour when it began. There were about 40 kids there, and we prayed God would bring 100, but more importantly, His Spirit would pour out! WOW! He did. When we finished praying, about 100 kids had come (in the rain)! BUT, more exciting, God had already united them in powerful worship, and a great message. The kids were challenged by our 19 yr “Abram”.  Almost everyone accepted the challenge to be a ‘soldier for Jesus’. People were taking photos like they have never seen something so awesome before! THANK YOU TO ALL WHO PRAYED AND TO ALL WHO DONATED! We have a ‘reunion’ planned with the team, this Sat, and Wed the 17th we get 30 min in the service to share!

On a sad note, Patti ran from rehab (heroin), lasting only one night! We have not ‘yet’ seen her since. Please pray again! But the couple that ‘moved’ out are doing fantastic!

This week we start teaching classes again, Revelation, Women’s Discipleship, Life of David, Ruth/Esther, Worship, Romans, Newly Marrieds, and Missions & Evangelism! Writing this out makes me tired! We need His strength!
Hasta todo el mundo conocerle,
Until the whole world knows!

Hola Amigos!

Life is great here in Mexico. We are so thankful to be able to serve Him and the people here! It is definitely different, but we like it!

SHORT VERSION

– New dirt road, BIG river.

– Soccer & guitar.

– Missions & Evangelism, in action!

– Next work trip to visit us, April 30!

– Housesitting/petsitting needed in Santa Barbara from June 18 – August 27. Monica (22) will probably be with us too!

Longer Version

Just yesterday, we were driving down a dirt road, and we were so excited! Why? Because, they had added dirt to cover the rocks, so it was SO much smoother! Seemed funny to get excited about a dirt road! But we use it every time we go somewhere in the car. Yes, we still bike as much as we can too. Speaking of roads, see the photo below of the river we must cross to get to the Bible College! We can no longer cross it in our car. So we park at a friend’s house, and they ‘import/export’ us! We teach 2 days in a row, so we get to play soccer (futbol) with the kids, eat dinner, then I teach a night worship class. Bonnie is in this class, which includes beginning guitar (foto)! Sometimes she gets silly in class, can you imagine? Then we bring our air mattress and sleep in our classroom!

Four weeks ago we started a missions and evangelism class, and usually have 30 people show up! Next Friday we are hitting the streets to share our faith! Our next mission trip will be to San Felipe, April 16-18. I am training Gabriel to lead the next one, in June, I will co lead that one, and hopefully he will lead one without me in the fall! Pray for this! Also, $25 scholarships cover the cost of this trip. If you can give extra for this, mark it Johnsons/special! Thanks so much!

Bonnie’s English ladies bible study has grown to 20 ladies. They are connecting and ministering to each other in great ways too! We have seen Patti since she ran from rehab. Keep praying, she is still on heroin!

Rod Walters in Santa Barbara will be bringing another group down on April 30 (after work) for the weekend! We will put on a Kids outreach, a Singles meeting, and a work project or 2. We may help Sandra, whose 41 year old husband recently died, and has 4 young daughters and a niece living with her! Pray for them. The photo below is of Yazmin & Yesica, the 2 youngest daughters. Every week they give me hugs and kisses! Pray about coming, and if God is leading, contact Rod @ rod@acs-construction.com.

We plan to come back to Santa Barbara around June 18, and will be there again until Aug. 27. God has blessed us with great housesitting the past 2 summers! We know He has another great summer planned. Monica will stay in SLO until we go to Santa Barbara and join us. She was just hired as a tutor! She only has 1-2 weeks of class left! If we can help you and you help us with housesitting, please email us soon!

Thanks for your PRAYERS. We are learning more Spanish, and working to “equip” an army to serve Jesus, “until the whole world knows”! Your prayers, encouragement, and financial support help us do it! God bless you all!

April 2010

Wow, time flies when you are having fun! Bonnie and I hope YOU are having a blast, and that you sense God’s blessings ALL around you, especially this Easter! We have been blessed and busy (surprized? jaja) About 40 friends came over for a ‘missions’ night last night!
SHORT VERSION
– hitting the streets, with and army!
– River is down, family came down too!
– San Felipe mission trip, needs prayer and scholarships.
– Come to Rosarito and serve Jesus for a weekend!
– House sitting needed this summer in Santa Barbara!
Longer Version
Once a month our church hits the streets to go witnessing! Some of our ‘class’ came, and we had about 60+ show up! It was great, several first timers, and many ‘proclamations’ of faith! We also did a trash pick up day (about 80 more people), with flyers, tracts, and cold orange drink to share. It too was pretty cool. Lots of open doors. While out we ran into Patti, the one on heroin! Several hugged her, and greeted her warmly. She was out of it. But 4 days later showed up at church, ready to ‘get right’! PRAY, she is detoxing now, on her 5th day!
Bible college is great, gave mid terms last week, and the river is down enough for us to cross it in our own car! Monica came down last week! She came to school with us, and we had a wonderful week! Pray for her as she considers teaching overseas next fall! My parents and brother also blessed us with a 24 hour visit just before Monica came! We love visitors!
Our mission trip to San Felipe is less than 3 weeks away. It is ‘full’, with a waiting list. We still really need prayer & $25 scholarships for a few more people (we have received 2 already). Send them to CCSB (address below), “Johnson’s special”. Thanks!
A team from Santa Barbara is coming to work here April 30-May 2, and you are invited to come too! (see attached flyer) The church has a new ‘park’ that needs work, a widow (w/ 4 small kids) needs help, and we will do an outreach for kids w/ games, candy, clowns, etc! Pray about coming! Hoping the ‘team’ can provide 500 hot dogs, etc. for after the gospel message! That night we hope/plan to put on a Singles Night! for our church! contact Rod @ rod@acs-construction.com
Again, this summer, we will be in Santa Barbara, working and house sitting. Some have contacted us about house sitting, which is great! If you are going to be gone during June 18- til the end of August, we will love your pets, plants, and leave your house so clean! Our Monica will also be with us! Thanks!
Thanks for your PRAYERS. We are working to “equip” an army to serve Jesus, “until the whole world knows”!

Your prayers, encouragement, and financial support help us do it! God bless you all!

Hola,

Well, we have lots of BIG NEWS in this newsletter.

Short Version.

Monica moving to Ethiopia!

Jeff is getting a new pacemaker.

Santa Barbara came here, now, here we come, but Bonnie’s Cafe’? Dessert in CdM!

Maneadero Mission Trip, scholarships needed.

May is marriage month @ CCR.

Bible college graduation.

Long Version

WOW, last week Monica said YES to a ‘missionary’ school in Addis Ababa, to teach 4th grade! She leaves the end of July, and would love your prayers, and any support too! mjohnson816@gmail.com We are so excited and proud, but already miss her! We will have about 5 weeks together before she goes.

My pacemaker was supposed to last only 5-7 years, but after 9.5, needs replacing on May 31. The ins we bought, after we asked if they would cover this, now says they will NOT. Almost shorted out my pacemaker! In Mexico it is much cheaper, but still almost 10K. We are still trying to settle several details, thanks for praying for health and His provision too.

On June 11, we hope to see some of you at my parents house for a dessert and sharing night! We would LOVE to see you! Please email so we can give you directions! 7pm. Over 50 proclaimed faith in JESUS when the team came, and we have seen many of these people at church too! see photo. We plan to be in Santa Barbara for the service on Sunday, June 13! The Cafe’ will no longer be ours, so we plan to study Spanish and volunteer at our church CCSB. We return to Mexico the end of August. We still have some housesitting needs in SB in Aug if we can help you?

June 4-6 we co lead a trip from CC Rosarito (about 40) to assist a smaller CC down south. The cost is only $20 per adult, and $13 for a teen, but many need at least a 1/2 scholarship! Please pray for this outreach and training, as we “equip the saints to do the work of the ministry”. If you can donate, please tell us (we would not find out until after the trip) and send it in to CCSB (details below) “special”. See photo of Pastor Mel and family. (I have been discipling him since Sept).

This month we have been asked to give 6 extra messages for Marriage Month at CCR! We have done 3, and have 3 more! One with a ‘romantic dinner’! Fun stuff. Many struggling marriages to help, thanks for praying!

Many things are also winding down. Bonnie’s ladies BS, our Missions & Evangelism class, the Newly Married’s, and the 5 classes we teach in Ensenada each week. See photo of me w/ 2 graduating students. Tomorrow we go to the 1st graduation for this campus! Pray that God would continue to use these men and women “until the whole world knows”!

Christmas 2010

Merry Christmas to all our friends and family!

Our hope and prayer is that you experience His great love, this season, and always!

2010 found us in Mexico, where we plan to be at least another year. We love it here. Wonderful people, great weather n surf, good food, and ministry is happening! We are both learning more Spanish all the time as well, but do pray we continue to improve!

Some of our high lights this past year include 4 mission trips with people from our church, Calvary Chapel Rosarito, where I am officially a staff pastor, (calvarychapelrosarito.com), with over 150 coming with us! Not only are churches encouraged, and many saved, we are training and equipping our friends to do this ministry, which they do well! Even though our main focus is getting others involved in doing the ministry, we are speaking mucho, between the two of us, close to 500 times! It is always exciting to see many get saved, and many have! Bonnie and I also have discipleship groups, as we again hope to prepare people for ministry! This past year we have seen several step up in ministry, one became a pastor, another plans to head south to begin a new Calvary this spring!

One of our main ministries continues to be the Bible College. As most of you know, we will begin the new campus in Rosarito, Jan 29. God has blessed us with 7 very good teachers, and we will begin with 8 classes, mostly at night and on Saturdays! We expect at least 50 part time students our first semester! Please see our brochure attached. Please be in prayer for wisdom as we have 3 services and have outgrown our building in Rosarito. Land here is not cheap, but we know God will provide a bigger place so they can “come” and then “go”!

Thanks to all who pray for our family! Danny and Sarah continue to do well in Santa Barbara. Danny is now looking for a more career oriented job, pray for them. Monica will be ‘home’ for Christmas from Ethiopia (Monica’s blog sgwm.com/monica/) and we are so excited! Pray for great family times for the 5 of us! If you or anyone needs housesitting in Santa Barbara just 2 nights, Dec 22 and 23, we are looking for a place! Thanks! We will spend Thanksgiving at my folks and see Danny and Sarah too!

There are so many stories to share with you. We asked you to pray for Sandra last winter, whose husband died, and she is left with 4 young daughters! She is doing well! She and her two oldest went on the last mission trip with us and loved it! On the trip she began to have personal time with Jesus, daily reading her Bible and praying! She still struggles, but God is so real in her life. She told Bonnie and I we are like parents to her! All the daughters give us many hugs and kisses each week! She is hoping to begin a new business with her sister soon! Pray also her sister gets saved! See photo of Sandra and Bonnie.

Our passion is to equip others to do the work of the ministry. working to “equip” an army to serve Jesus, “until the whole world knows”! Your prayers, encouragement, and financial support help us do it! God bless you all!

Dec. 2010

Feliz Navidad to all our friends and family!
Our hope and prayer is that you experience His great love, this season, and always! I guess we sent our Christmas greetings a bit early, so how about a Happy New Year as well! (know you are busy, it is short!)

We finished up a very good semester at the Bible College in Ensenada. It was sad saying good bye, as we now will focus all our ministry here in Rosarito (except for mission trips!) Last Sunday we began promoting the new school (bilingual), and passed out many applications! Our first official student is Salvador, 67 years young! Praise God for people from ALL walks of life who want to KNOW HIM better, KNOW His Word, and be better EQUIPPED to serve Him! Many seem interested in attending full time, which is a pleasant surprize! Pray about a dorm that ‘could’ be donated to our new school?! It would be amazing!

Last Saturday night 40 came over for dinner from our Married couples group. We played games, and caroled in the neighborhood! We recently moved to and have more room for people! We will live in the new house until it sells!

Sunday night we had another party for the Singles group we lead. Victor afterwards said, “I can’t remember laughing so hard”. He has recently completed a drug rehab, and in Jan. he will become an intern at church!

Yesterday I went surfing with 3 other friends. Ivan’s brother and sister have both recently asked Jesus to be their Lord and Savior, and Ivan has been coming to church and surfing with us too. Before we surfed, I asked him if he was a Christian yet? He said he was ready, and would do it at church Wed pm. Today is the day of salvation! So we prayed with him right there, then caught some fun waves!

Friday, Bonnie has her last study in the book of James, and then a Christmas luncheon!

She was excited to have 4 new gals last week! Please pray for leaders for the group for Jan.
Our Monica arrives this Saturday, escorted by my brother and parents! Excited? You bet! We hope you are excited to celebrate His coming to bring us all salvation, and excited that He is coming again, and soon!

Our passion is to equip others to do the work of the ministry. working to “equip” an army to serve Jesus, “until the whole world knows”! Your prayers, encouragement, and financial support help us do it! God bless you all!

Jan 2011

Buenos Dias,

Bonnie and I (pic- r we dancing?) thank you for all your prayers and encouragement. God is working and answering your prayers! Please keep praying. Life and ministry are wonderful here. Again, here is the short and the long versions.

Short:

New Calvary Chapel Bible College Rosarito begins this Sat. We have about 50 students!

Teaching. Our singles class continues, Bonnies ladies study continues, new Parenting class will begin, and maybe a bilingual home group too!

We moved. Only 2 houses away, but a blessing!

Church continues to grow! pray for new location.

Monica back to Ethiopia, please continue to pray for her too.

Mirella got saved!

New Calvary Chapel planted in E. TJ!

Long Version.

CCBC Rosarito begins this Sat! We follow Him as He leads! We are excited to see how He has opened the doors, through the CCBC in Ensenada, and our church here in Rosarito. All our students so far are part time, which we expected, with ages of 14 to about 70! We never retire from learning and serving Jesus, right? More students will probably enroll before it is too late! I am also helping with our School of Ministry, with about 30 students. Our 3 main goals are to know Jesus more intimately, know His Word more deeply, and be better prepared to serve Him!Remember, we are here to equip people for ministry, until the whole world knows!

Teaching. Many doors are open to pour love and God’s word into the people here. Bonnie’s ladies study will be developing 8 small group leaders! (pic) We are also praying about begining a bilingual home group. We have also been asked to mentor a group of 6 who hope to go to Guanajuato and start a new CC this summer!

We moved. Same neighborhood. The neighbors needed tenants as they moved back to Holland, and gave us a great rate until it sells!

Church growth. It is exciting to see people sitting on the benches around the back walls, and with 3 services on Sundays, we still need more room. Pray for the $ to reach even more for Jesus!

Mirella is Sandy’s sister. She moved her after Sandy’s husband died a year ago from cancer. Mirella helps with Sandy’s 4 girls! Well, Sandy kept bringing Mirella to church, we asked you to pray for her in Dec, and in Dec, she prayed and asked Jesus to be her Lord!

New CC! Sunday the 16th was the 1st service of a new CC in E. TJ (Vista del Valle), way off the beaten path! (pic) God opened some big doors. Pray for Jose Luis and Cindy as he pastors here. We are sending a team of servants everyweek to help (45 min drive). We will bring a team from Rosarito in March for an entire weekend. For those interested in coming on a ‘mission’ weekend, this is a good place!

Thanks again so much for all your love, prayers, support, and encouragement! Keep it up! We love you and are blessed to serve Jesus and His people here!

Feb 2011

Hola Hermanos y Hermanas!
Bonnie and I love being here in Mexico. It is such a blessing to be a part of what God is doing, and He is doing plenty. God is working and answering your prayers! Please keep praying. We also want to thank you for “sending” us, praying, encouraging, and giving to us and this ministry! Again, here is the short and the long versions.

Short:
– New Calvary Chapel Bible College Rosarito is going strong. We have about 75 students!
– Teaching. Our singles class ended today, Bonnies ladies study continues, new Parenting class started today, and we started a bilingual home group too!
– Church continues to grow! pray for new location.
– New Calvary Chapel planted in E. TJ! Mission weekend planned!

Long Version.

CCBC Rosarito began 3 weeks ago! We have about 75 students! Many are taking 1 class, some as many as 5 classes (we offer 9)! Our 3 main goals are to know Jesus more intimately, know His Word more deeply, and be better prepared to serve Him! Remember, we are here to equip people for ministry, until the whole world knows! It is exciting to see people growing, learning, and excited about Jesus! I sent out a Facebook post, and it looks like we will soon get 4-5 computers for students to use for light internet and Word. IF you have one that works for this, we would love it! 2 photos, one is our biggest class!

Teaching. Many doors are open to pour love and God’s word into the people here. Bonnie’s ladies study now has 8 small group leaders! We began a bilingual home group. We had 25, and 15 kids! Pray for good childcare each week!
Church growth. It is exciting to see people sitting on the benches around the back walls, and with 3 services on Sundays, we still need more room. 2 weeks ago we baptized 9! We have about 7 baptisms a year. Last Sunday I got to speak, and 6 more proclaimed faith in Jesus! Pray for the res to reach even more for Jesus!

We have a new CC in East Tijuana (Vista del Valle), way off the beaten path! We will bring a team from Rosarito March 26-27 for the weekend. We have planned a ladies event, construction, soccer game/outreach, youth concert, free family pancake breakfast, hitting the streets and clothing distribution. All these events we will be telling them about Jesus and the new church! Pray for open hearts, and the perfect team to bring!

Thanks again so much for all your love, prayers, support, and encouragement! Keep it up! We love you and are blessed to serve Jesus and His people here!

April 2011

Buenos Dias!

Francisco* was sharing his testimony at home group last Friday night. We met him last fall as he is new to the church. He and his wife faithfully attended our Married Couples group all fall. I knew him a bit, knew he was deported, and his wife has a job in the US, where she lives with the kids during the week, and they come every weekend to be together. What I did not know is that he got saved in our class, and that the class also transformed their marriage! We often see what God is doing, but sometimes it hits us harder than others! Bonnie and I are here, because we have been “sent”, by God, and by you! YOU are touching people like Francisco, his wife and kids! At the end of his testimony he said, “even though I cannot return to the US, and I had so many things before, my life has never been better!” God changes everything! Can I get an AMEN? Thank you for all your prayers and support!

Short Version:

– Weekend mission trip was a blessing! Many saved, the church is growing!

– Danny and Sarah visit! He also has a new job!

– CCR needs a new casa.

– Lousia* needs a new casa too.

Long Version.

Last weekend we went about 1 hour east, with a group from our church, into the hills behind TJ. Our church sent out a couple to begin a new Calvary Chapel in January. We spent the entire weekend doing activities, loving the people, and proclaiming the good news! About 30+ decisions for Jesus were made, and many were encouraged! Several had tears streaming down their faces as they were so touched by Jesus! One teenager had vowed not to set foot in the church, but ended up coming to 3 activities, including the Sunday service! We returned tired, but it was a good tired! Pray for lasting fruit! Enjoy the photos below!

After not getting a promotion last Nov. Danny, our son, prayed about seeking work elsewhere. He has now been working for a very good company less than 2 weeks, only a bike ride from his house! Thanks to those who prayed! Before he started, they were able to come visit! He and Sarah even helped us teach our parenting class, reflecting on their own upbringings! Do pray for Monica to find a teaching job when she returns this summer from Ethiopia.

Church growth. Last letter we mentioned the need for more space as we have 3 services on Sundays. I did not tell you that we also have an overflow room that holds about 100, with video monitors. Last Wednesday night, that room was also full! Keep praying for His plan for this good problem!

Lousia* is a single mom of 3 great kids 11-14 yrs. Beaten by her husband and left to die, she came to the church a couple years ago. They have been living in a free casa, but that blessing is ending soon! She was recently given some land near the church! For $4800 a small house can be built for her and the kids! We are confirming the ownership of this land now. But, if it really is hers, “we” want to help get the $ for this house! (maybe some of you would want to help build it!). Pray for Lousia*, her kids, and for His plan for their lives. We WILL let you know if you can help donate to bless these friends with a NEW CASA! (not quite like Extreme Makeover!) She does not even know yet that we hope to do this! (shhhh)

Thanks again so much for all your love, prayers, support, and encouragement! Keep it up! We love you and are blessed to serve Jesus and His people here!

*Names have been changed.

July 11

Hola de Carpinteria,
We left Mexico a week ago, with Monica, stopped at my parents for a night, had dinner at Bill & Jana’s on the way, and enjoyed church at CC in Santa Barbara! We are now staying with Danny and Sarah until next week.
Short version-
– Adriana’s casa is going great! Awesome team from SB helped! see PHOTO.
– In SB, painting our house, Bonnie teaching ladies bible study, and together we teach a 6 week parenting class at church.
– Monica is BACK, looking for teaching job.
Longer version.
– the SB team really did so much in 1 day! They were almost as excited as Adriana & her kids. They helped! She fed them all lunch too. The city did not come through with the concrete, but I think we have ALL the $ needed, but there will always be things that ‘could’ be done. Thanks SO much to all who prayed, worked and gave! Here are a few more things needed. We have a van from SB going down in the next month, that could transport them. We were hoping to get these things donated but if we got $ maybe we could buy them? A small stall shower. Kitchen counters, Kitchen sink, Electric supply wire (very heavy wire that will need to behooked into their meter) ,Hot water heater (and necessary hook ups), Stove (and necessary hook ups), Fridge, Interior doors. She may move in next week.
– Got a bike for Oscar, my assistant for the Bible college! Summer School is going well! We also got good friends to rent the ‘casa’ in Mexico! yay!
– In SB, Bonnie is teaching Proverbs 31 on Wed am’s for 6 weeks. She has 2 extra books if you want to join? Our class, “Raising Kids who Love Jesus” begins at CCSB this Sunday at 9am. We hope that it is a blessing to all who attend. Besides painting our house here, we hope to connect with family and many friends.

– Monica had a blast as a missionary teacher in Ethiopia. Upon return, she was in the top 2 candidates for a great job, but did not get it. Please pray His plan would be revealed as she looks for a teaching job here in California.

Aug/Sept 11

Hola de Rosarito, Mexico,

We left Santa Barbara a week ago, with Monica, stopped at my parents for 2 nights, then drove “home”. BUT, I drove a donated 21 passenger van/bus, while Bonnie & Monica each drove a car. I got stopped 3x at the border trying to enter Mexico, once coming back to US. Finally, we left it at a friends house in Chula Vista. I returned 2 days later, put most of the items in other cars, and put 10 other people INside the van, and “no problema”! Thank you Jesus!

Short version-

– our Bible college starts in less than 2 weeks, please pray for sign ups.

– our time in SB was wonderful.

– lots of other ministry opportunities! Want to move to Guanajuato or Zacatecas?

– Monica is with us, moving to San Diego next week, & will substitute teach while looking for teaching job.

– Adriana needs a septic tank!

Longer version-

We had a fantastic 1st semester w/ 75 students, and even summer school! We are offering 11 classes this semester, pray for hungry students who truly want to serve Him.

– Bonnie’s Pro. 31 ladies group was a blessing for all! The Parenting class was well received too. We had some other teaching/sharing opportunities as well as good times with family and friends! It flew by so fast, but we love being back in Mexico! – Besides the school, Bonnie will continue teaching the English ladies study, and hopes to disciple 2-3 ladies. Pray for wisdom. Together we will teach 2 classes on Relationships, one for marrieds, one for singles. Our singles group from Santa Barbara is coming down in Oct! Groups are welcome! I will speak at our midweek service next week, and lead a mission trip to San Quintin in October. Pray for Jose Luis y Isabel as they move to Guanajuato to begin a new CC. Another couple plan to move in Jan. to Zacatecas. They would love some others to go with them! – Monica has had some awesome interviews, but still no full time teaching job. She has 4 girls she plans to live with in the San Diego area starting Sept 1, and will substitute teach, and be much closer to us! Thanks for continuing to pray.

– Most houses built for so cheap only have an outhouse, but we put a kitchen and bathroom in Adriana’s casa. BUT, “we” forgot about septic. We are looking into options, and I do have $242 left over. It sounds like it could be between $1000-500 for a septic? Pray for a good plan & provision. THANKS again to all who were SO generous! We received donations from other missionaries in Germany, Philippines, Ethiopia, Mexico, & Hawaii! It may not be how much one has, but how much they really want to share?! Thanks to many that donated clothes and other ‘stuff’ to share with others! Attached are some photos of the inside of the casa. It looks great!

Oct 11

Buenos dias mis amigos,

Already Oct 1, we hope this finds you fully enjoying life and all God has for us! We see His hand here in the sea, sunsets, and in the beautiful people we get to live and work with. Thanks for reading this month.

Short version-
– our Bible college is bigger and better than ever, 81 students this fall!
– new missionary prayer meeting.
– CCSB coming down in 2 weeks! Is there room for you?
– Monica in San Diego, thanks for praying.
– Adriana got a septic tank & more!
– Mission trip to San Quintin.
– our ‘shoes’ are too tight?
Longer version
– Today is the beginning of week 5 of the school, more students and classes, God is working. Some of our classes are Romans, Preaching & Teaching, Apologetics, 1,2,3 John, Proverbs, Mark, Philippians, and Judges (11 total) with about 15 average per class.
Tomorrow we take some to the campus in Ensenada for an ‘adventure’ together!

– We started a new prayer meeting, mainly for those we have SENT from CCR. We have had up to 11 show up. Pray that God continue to stir up the hearts here to Know Him, Grow, and the GO! Our relationship classes are going well, as so is Bonnie’s English BS.

– We are excited to see friends from our home church, Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara in 2 weeks. One project will be to help Sandra, a recent widow of 4 girls. Does anyone have extra wire to re wire her casa, or a front door knob, with a dead bolt? We hope to also install her oven, and secure her windows. Sandra is doing well, but will be so blessed by extra help! Maybe there is still room on

– Monica has 3 great roommates and a nice condo in San Diego. She got a part time job coaching volleyball at Horizon Christian School! She gets to start substitute teaching next week! Thanks for praying for work, that she gets consistent teaching jobs.

– Adriana not only got a septic tank, but a hot water heater and security bars on her windows! God provided! thanks for praying!
– Last Sunday we had over 40 at our 1st planning meeting for a mission trip to CC San Quintin, about 4 hours south. Pray that God works with our team, and in the hearts in San Quintin too. We have known Pastor Basilio for over 15 years!
– ever try on shoes that were too small? Our building in Rosarito is too small for all the people God keeps bringing! We have been looking at other places to rent, but of course they cost mucho mas too. We are praying for ‘someone’ to donate a BIG matching gift, or about 75K! If we could get the 150K we could fix up the place  and cover the extra rent for a couple years until we can pay it ourselves. This happened about 5 years ago, and we believe God will do it again. Please pray for this. We know HE CAN DO IT! Amen?
Nov 11
Hola,
The other day was Dia de los muertos, or day of the dead! All week, many of our friends had NO water, including at church! Thankfully we did have water! Halloween we did not see anyone dressed up or come to our door. Next Sat we get to attend a Quinceañera! (girls 15 yr special party). We are so close to the USA, and so far away as well! Thanks for your prayers, and Thanks for reading this month.
Short version-
– Mission trip to San Quintin a blessing as many took BIG steps of faith!
– CCSB mission trip was good.
– Coach Monica- team went undefeated!
– Mid terms are over, new school website created! ccbcrosarito.com
– Orange County for Thanksgiving.
– our ‘shoes’ are too tight?
Longer version-

– Almost 30 of us went to San Quintin (4 hours south, not in SF area!). Our team did a FANTASTIC job! They planned the meals, hit the streets and shared how to be “born again” (about 25 prayed in the streets!), they planned a great youth nite, kids outreach, married couples nite, led worship, taught bible studies, and 7 SS classes, and did LOTS of worship. Even though we slept on the floor and got only one shower (cold!) God did amazing things through His people. Thanks for praying! Remember, one of our main goals is to equip the people for the work of the ministry. It is happening!

– We were excited to see friends from our home church, Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara. They blessed one of our church plants in E. TJ, helped at an orphanage, and really blessed Sandra and her family working on her casa, and put on a wonderful evening for the Singles at CCR! The CCSB people were so excited! Maybe you can come on a future trip? They are LIFE CHANGING. Judy is praying about MOVING here from the SB area!

– Monica’s VB team went undefeated in league. Playoffs start next week. She is subbing, but needs more! Thanks for praying.

– School is going well, and our new website is a blessing! If someone misses a class, they can hear it on the site, and make up the work! We also got a new/used printer! We have about 5 weeks of classes left this semester, pray we all finish strong.
– we will pick up Monica in SD and travel to the “OC” and be with my folks for Thanksgiving. We will be sad to miss Danny & Sarah, but excited to see them at Christmas! We hope you have a very blessed Thanksgiving with loved ones!

Amen?

CHRISTmas 2011

Dear Amigos,

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas as you celebrate Jesus’ birth this year. There’s so much to be thankful for. We have loved living in Mexico and plan on being here several more years, God willing. Last January we started the Calvary Chapel Bible College here in Rosarito. What a blessing it has been. We have had more students than we expected. There are 3 semesters a year, 15 weeks each. This is our 3rd semester and there are 81 students and 7 teachers. It is such a joy to be a part of pouring into the students lives. Each week I have my students share testimonies of what God is teaching them and it is amazing to hear their stories. One woman in my class has been able to forgive her mother after years of bitterness and has so much joy in her heart now. It is a thrill for me to be able to challenge my students and see such spiritual growth! Please pray for us that the next semester would make an impact in many lives here in Rosarito. Many of our classes will be on line if any of you are interested in taking any! (ccbcrosarito.com)

Another highlight this year was helping build a house for Adriana and her 3 teens. They are very special to us and many of you have helped make this dream possible with your prayers and giving. They are like our family as the kids call me mom & Jeff ‘papi’ since we always take them on our mission trips and I act as their “mom” for the weekend. They have a beautiful home now and are serving faithfully in the church. Thanks again to each of you who gave to this project!

We continue to enjoy teaching 2 Adult Sunday school classes to married couples and singles each week. When the team from CCSB came down to help they put on a wonderful singles conference and our singles class has been packed ever since with the excitement as they want to continue to learn and grow. Thanks CCSB for making a difference here! We hope many of you will come on the next trip!

Danny and Sarah are doing great in Carpinteria. Danny has a new job at Planned Member Services and works in retirement planning. He is excited for the new challenge. Sarah is still at Maravilla and works as a hospitality Manager. They are enjoying being involved in the newly marrieds group at church also. Monica has moved to San Diego! It is just 50 minutes from our house. So much closer after Ethiopia last year! We are enjoying having her nearby. We can go up for a quick visit and meet Jeff’s folks there as it is close for both of us. She has been coaching Volleyball for middle & High school and is starting to coach a club team this month as well. She’s substitute teaching and looking for a full time teaching job. Pray she can get a full time job soon!

We would love to have visitors. We feel very safe here and would enjoy having you come for a visit!!! There’s an extra bedroom too. Mi casa es su casa! Hope to see many of you as we come up to CA for Christmas. Thanks so much for being a part of our lives; we really appreciate your love and prayers as we serve here in Mexico!

January Adventures 2012

Feliz ano nuevo or as the song says it “propero ano nuevo”, 2012!
Short version.
– semester ended well, first year completed.
– amazing outreach for poor kids, with a TWIST!
– had a great Christmas in Orange county
– we are now in Carpinteria (Santa Barbara) until the 12th. Hope to see you!
– Family vacation to amazing place!
– next semester looking great, ONLINE options – yes! YOU could take a class too!
Long Version.
– we are so encouraged by how God is blessing people through the Bible College. Not all passed, but ALL learned and grew!
– Rick & Val have been blessing the poor kids the last 8 or so years with a fantastic Christmas party (pizza, soda, banana splits, gifts!). We pick up these same kids for Sunday School all year long. Maybe the best thing we can do for these kids is reach their parents. So we sent them home with a note inviting them to one of the 3 services the next day, with a ‘bribe’ of a bag of free food, and a ride. We were not sure if any would come, but bought 10 full bags of food. We knew they would not go to waste! The 1st service 46 parents came, and 5 more the 2nd service! During the service Bonnie & I went shopping, and all got a bag of food! We will be offering a ride every week to all those in this area (not that far from church). Pray that they all come and bring amigos too!
– we had more presents left, so we loaded up our bus, and played “Santa” to 9 families from church who would not have so much! Kids were estactic, mom’s & dad’s got teary! So good. Then we hosted the CCR staff & families, all 42 for dinner.
Our Godson Chris came to help!
Cute kids!
Christmas story acted out.
Christmas on the bus!!
– Sunday we were back at Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara, so good to see amigos. Even got to do a hike and a sunset sail! Bonnie’s phone is 805-403-3186, mine is 805-450-6859.
– Jan 13 we are going to Maui with Monica, Danny & Sarah, thanks to Bonnie’s mom, who will be with us too! Yippee! Yes, we will attend the church pastored by Ricky Ryan.
– Each semester we learn more about how to run a good school. This semester we are offering 11 classes, most of them available ONLINE in English y espanol. (see schedule below). Yes, even you could take a course or several? Please PRAY for us. Gracias!

Feb Adventures 2012

Hola amigos y familia,
We hope you are all allowing God to “transform you into His image” (2C3:18), and enjoying all God has for us during this short time on earth! It is best live for Jesus, and for eternity! Thanks for all your prayers, encouragement, and support! We had a great time visiting family, or home church, and taking a vacation too!
Short version.
– Bible College back in full swing! added 2 more classes.
– Bonnie’s ladies Bible study planning an outreach.
– Where is Algodones? Next Mission trip planned!
– CCSB team came.
– Germans in Mexico? Guten abend?
Long Version.
It is exciting to see the students hungry to get into God’s word. Thanks for helping make all this happen! We added a Biblical Counseling Class (http://www.ibcd.org/), and a Church Planting class, 13 classes all together! We have 3 students preparing to GO, plant new churches in Morelos, Monterey, and E. Tijuana, in the next 2 years. Again, we have about 80 students! Thanks for praying!
The Ladies English Study started off well also. We are going to do an outreach breakfast for Valentines day and invite all the parents who we gave bags of food to last month. Will you pray for Bonnie’s ladies as they put on the outreach and invite the parents, and that some men/dads would come? Starting this week we will pick up the parents too. Pray that many would come to know Jesus as we share testimonies and our lives with them!
We will be taking another mission trip the first week in March to Algodones, east of Mexicali (across from Yuma, Az). Will you pray for us as we have meetings with the team the next 3 weeks to plan and prepare. We will take 30 people so pray for those who will be coming too. One of our old students from the Ensenada campus graduated and is the pastor of the church we will be helping out. I discipled Aaron during bible college, so it will be fun to help the church!
CC Santa Barbara brought their interns here to work and Pastor Troy spoke for all 3 services. We had a baptism (11 dunked) and the team BBQ’d burgers for the whole church. It is really nice to have them all here serving. They also treated us to a steak and lobster dinner (suffering for Jesus!)!
A month ago, Nina arrived in Mexico! She was one of our students in Germany, and is here serving for 10 weeks! She is living with a Mexican family, helping at an orphanage, and at the church/bible college! She is loving it, and we love having her! Those who come down to visit and serve are ALWAYS blessed. Maybe God would want you to pray about it, even for just a few days?
PS. Again, we are thankful for so much, God supplies our support (through you), gives us good health (although a few flu days last month), and a great network, here and back ‘home’ as well! HE IS GOOD!

Mexico in March 2012

Just found out our son Danny, 26, is in the hospital. Please pray they figure out what is wrong, and that God would use him for His glory!

Hola de Rosarito Mexico,
Short version.
– Where is Algodones? trip report…good and HARD!
– we have 101 students (not Dalmatians) signed up for classes!
– Bonnie’s ladies Bible study outreach, 9 proclaimed faith.

Long Version. (not that long)

Thanks for praying!
Last Friday we took 39 to Algodones, just across the border from Yuma, Az. We did sign ups for about 3 weeks and had about 25 signed up. But the day of the first meeting about 60 showed up (none had paid!). We planned on taking 30, but we could s t r e t c h it to 40! We had 3 planning/prayer meetings, as God prepared us, and we prepared for ministry. The good news is we saw about 10 adults proclaim faith and many kids! We also saw God use MANY in our church to speak, lead, teach, construct, craft, lead worship, etc! Again, the youth planned an entire meeting for the local youth and lead it all! We also saw several in our church build some solid friendships, especially 3 teenagers who I hope will be a part of our youth group now!
As good as that all sounds, let me share the other part of ministry. It can be HARD. I have known Pastor Aaron 2.5 years, as he was a student in Ensenada. He was in my classes, and I met weekly for a year with him in a small group. After graduating, Aaron served at the CC in Ensenada for almost a year, and 10 months ago he moved to Algodones (“cotton”) with his wife Irene. The church is very tiny. We did not see one adult male come to any event. Only a handful of ladies. Sometimes we think we can open the door and our bible and people will just ‘show up’. We thank you so much for your prayers for us! Maybe you can remember Aaron y Irene too? I believe he is gifted and called. He is fun too! Yes, we talked ‘stradegy’ as well. We have other Mexican missionaries that are in similar situations. Pray with me that God raises up an entire team (as least 6 adults) to be on each church plant. I truly believe this will be very effective.
The Ladies English Study had a great Valentines breakfast outreach. 35 moms came and one dad. 8 ladies and the dad professed faith in Christ! Many have come back too. Will you pray that those that asked Jesus in their hearts would keep coming back and grow in Jesus. They also did an outreach for their 76 kids that came too. It was a wild morning and so much fun feeding them all and doing a story, songs and craft.

Thanks again for your prayers. We are here as Jesus representatives! What a privilege! Thanks for sending us.

Urgent Update

Hola,
Short-
1. PLEASE PRAY for our son Danny, he was taken by ambulance to the hospital again yesterday. Came home last night, sounded very good, w/ heart monitor on. He will see Dr. Danson at 11am. Something is not right. God is the healer! Love and thanks in advance for praying!!!! Photo of Danny & Sarah, Monica & I in Jan.
2. Forgive my whinning in the other email.
3. Trip to Rosarito May 25-27 for YOU! (attach)
4. Building Oscar’s casa.
5. House sitting in SB July1 – Aug 10
Long-
1. Danny has been doing well, biking, running, working, etc. Yesterday around noon, he passed out again! Hospital did not seem to do much? He went to our family Dr, Dr. Danson, also my surfing friend for past 19 years. Dr put a halter monitor on Danny, and results are expected soon. Danny was home last night, and sounded very good. BUT, something is wrong, so please pray. Just spoke to Danny again, there is a heart issue, he went to a cardiologist, said it should ‘go away’, but they will run stress tests on Monday. Thanks mucho for comments & prayers! Love & miss you all!
2. I did not mean to be “whinning” about not getting responses to our emails, but to say THANKS for the MANY responses we were getting! Ok, to be honest, I was whinning a little, please forgive me. We do LOVE to hear back from you. Our favorite word you could write is simply…. ‘prayin’. gracias.
3. Our friend Rod is coordinating a trip down here Friday pm May 25-27 or 28 (your choice) to help build a house and go to a very needy orphanage. more details on the flyer attached. Pray about coming. It is life changing! One friend that came 2 years ago said a weekend here was better than her trip to Venice, Italy! Yes, she has been back since!
4. Oscar is my assistant at the Bible College here. He is now engaged to marry, hopefully this summer. Housing is difficult for many here. I would like to BLESS Oscar y Dayana with a casa! Teams will come down to help. We also need about $7500 too build the house. Pray about coming or sending $. I know MANY helped last year, and I did not want to ask again. But, I know many of you were so blessed to give, and if you can’t, don’t worry. If you can, thanks mucho! Sentd $ to the church and write Oscar’s casa on the memo!
5. We plan to be in Santa Barbara July 1-Aug 10. We don’t want to stay w/ Danny the entire 6 weeks. So, if you are going on vacation, need someone to care for your dog, plants, etc. We would love too! Monica might be with us, but we are not sure? We look forward to seeing many of you then! Let us know!

“Hasta que todo el mundo lo conozca”,
Until the whole world knows!

Latest on Danny

Hola,
Be careful what you ask for, you may get it! In the past 2 weeks, I think I have received about 500 messages, mainly about Danny’s health! Thanks MUCHO for all the PRAYERS and concern. I think I personally answered the 1st 200, but not sure if I can catch up, so here is the latest. Forgive the non personal reply!
Danny feels very healthy. But we are all uncertain. We thought he was going in on Monday for more testing from the cardiologist, but that was only to make an appt for April 17! So, they don’t seem too worried! Danny was dancing at a wedding last weekend, has run with Sarah a few times, but is not yet back on his bike to work. They think it may just “go away”, and some who have had this, have confirmed it does go away sometimes. He is contacting the elders at church to pray and anoint him with oil (James 5), as we all want this in the Lord’s hands. Just last night he taught the Bible study for the young marrieds group at church! Again, thanks for all the prayers! We love you!
Tomorrow we go to San Juan Capistrano. My cousin, Steve, went to heaven after 22 years battling cancer. He was a strong believer. He will be greatly missed! Pray his testimony will touch many.
Some asked HOW to send $ for Oscar’s casa (last email)

Below are Easter week devotions that I wrote, you may want to do with your family, roommates or even someone at work?

Palm Sunday

– Christ enters Jerusalem: Read John 12:12-19 (Mat 21:1-11; Mar 11:1-10; Luk 19:28-44)

Why was the crowd so excited to see Jesus?

Does Jesus riding on a donkey fulfill a prophecy? Can you find where in the OT?

If you were God, what would you have had Jesus ride in or on?

What are the different ways people think about Jesus today?

How do you really feel about Jesus in your life?

Monday

– The second cleansing of the temple: Read Mat 21:12-17 &  Mar 11:15-18; Luk 19:45-48

What made Jesus so angry? Why did He call it a ‘den of thieves”?

In the Matt version, it says He did some wonderful things too, what where they?

According to Luke, who did not like Jesus and wanted to destroy Him?

People seemed to really LOVE Jesus or HATE Him? How is it like that today? Is this better than being “lukewarm”? Rev 3:18

Tuesday

– The judgment of unbelief: Read John 12:37-50

In v. 27 who was Jesus talking to? Who is He speaking to in v. 35?

He knew what would happen in just a few days! What was it?

Do you know anyone like those in v. 42? How does God want us to be who believe?

V. 46, Jesus came as a Light, that whoever believes should not live in darkness. What does it mean to live in darkness? What does it mean to live in light?

Thursday

– Contention of the apostles: Read John 13:31-38

The day before Jesus is killed, He is washing the feet of the disciples. Then they have communion together.

Then Jesus shares some of His last words. “Love one another”. How will the world know we are His disciples?

Do your friends and neighbors see this love? How can you ‘share’ this love with someone?

Peter said the right thing, “I will lay down my life for you”. But what happened to him? Can we prevent this from happening to us?

Good Friday

– Read John 19:1-4, 17-19, 28-41  (if time read chapter 18 too!)

In v. 1, why would the robe be painful?

v. 18, do you remember what Jesus said the thief on the cross?

v. 32-34, they did not break Jesus’ legs, but they pierced Him, why?

v. 40, how did they prepare His body for burial?

Some argue Jesus did not die, but merely fainted, so then He did not really rise from the dead. Why do you believe He really died? Do you really believe He rose from the dead?

Resurrection Sunday

– The Empty Tomb: Read John 20:1-30

Which disciple ran faster? (he was also younger!)

V. 5-7 What did they see in the tomb?

How many people saw the Risen Lord in this chapter?

Why did Jesus have Thomas touch His scars? v. 24-29

What do the scars of Jesus prove to you?

The disciples were NEVER the same again, all dying for their faith, except John. They really believed.

How has your life changed forever because of the resurrection of Jesus?

June 5, 2012

Buenos Noches,

Greetings from beautiful Rosarito! God is so good, and continuing to bless His ministry here.  We thank you for being part of the team, praying, giving, and encouraging us!
SHORT VERSION
– Out of dozens of applications for the teaching job, again, Monica got 2nd. Monica is back in Ethiopia until Friday. Please keep praying.
– The message went well, 9 proclaimed faith.
– Work project/orphanage visit went very well.
– Marriage conference a blessing to many.
– We will be in Santa Barbara July 1.
LONG VERSION
Marriages are hurting everywhere. At CCR we do lots of ‘prevention’ including our first marriage conference. Bonnie & I have been praying for and communicating w/ one couple especially. Even though they are recently back in the same house, it has not been good. After saying he would not go, they both came! There were so many smiles, kisses, laughter and even salsa dancing! The Rider’s & Cleary’s came from Santa Barbara to beautifully teach the 70 couples that were all blessed!

A wonderful group also came from Santa Barbara to work on building Sabino’s casa, and love on the babies at the orphanage. They even picked up one of my old Jr Hi kids from the 80’s in Irvine! Sunday am they cooked pancakes for about 80 or more, mostly poor kids, who just keep eating and eating! Hopefully YOU can come down sometime. Also, we asked for $500 to help in the construction project, and $1050 came in!!!!!!!! Wow, you guys are awesome! Sabino & Laura are so excited!
Sunday July 1st we will be in Santa Barbara for almost 6 weeks, until Aug 9, and we get to teach a 4 week marriage class @ CCSB starting July 15, during the 1st service! “Marriage as God Intended” (see cartoon attached). We are excited to see family and friends during this time as well! We are still needing at least one more week of house sitting, if you know anyone we can help out? We may do a “Mexico Night” in SB? let us know if you are interested?

Hola,

We have been in SB 2 weeks now, and all is well. Bonnie is very involved in several summer ladies bible studies, I with men’s groups, and we started teaching last Sunday our 4 week marriage class. God has blessed us with 8 great couples to be small group leaders! You can still come at 9am @ CCSB. Thanks for praying!
For all the SB locals, we are having a MEXICO nite this THURSDAY @ Mike & Susan Rider’s case, 7pm for dessert, 1029 Sandpiper, SB off Puente, between South of Turnpike. Hope you can come hang out with us!

11 just got baptized last Sunday in Rosarito, and we signed a new lease for a new building for the church, hope to move in by Sept 1!

Thanks again for the love n prayers!

August 2012

Hola,

Over 5 years ago now, Bonnie & I moved out of our house with the plan to be missionaries for 5 months or less! HAHA (in Mexico it is “JAJA”).
We continue to be excited to serve the Lord 5 years later, now in Rosarito. We thank you for your love, prayers, & generousity that keep us on the mission field. It has been amazing how many have truly been saved, discipled, and continue to grow spiritually. Thank you so much.
Santa Barbara is going well, we leave in 2 weeks, spend a few days @ my folks in the O.C. and will be at the service and baptism on Aug 12 in Mexico. Our class here in SB, “Marriage As God Intended” is going well. We have 2 more classes. (9am @ CCSB for those who are close) Thanks for praying.
We have a BIG request this month. We do our best NOT to ask for $, especially for ourselves! We serve a BIG GOD, so we know He can do it, but of course, His will be done. We hope to move into a new church building on Sept 1, over 2x bigger than where we are now! AND, the rent is $1400 LESS! BUT, it needs LOTS of work to be ‘usable’. (see photos) Bonnie & I first visited CCR over 9 years ago, w/ only 12 adults. They later moved to a building that squeezed in 60. By faith, they found a new place that would seat about 220. Within a year of each move, the church DOUBLED! Our new sanctuary will hold 600-800! Will it double? Our goal is to SEND equipped believers to start new churches, not just get bigger. (We already have a new church plant planned for Sept too!).
All this is to say we have needs! Yep, $ needs! Not for us, but for the building project.
Phase #1 moves us in, and is 50K. We have 25K (much from the church people, but realistically, we need lots of outside donations), and need the other 25K now, so we can be ready for Sept 1. (we don’t start paying rent until Sept 1 & don’t want to pay double rent!). Phase #2 is also 50K and Phase #3 is 50K. When it is finished we will have plenty of parking, a great sanctuary, offices, classrooms (for the bible college too) and an apartment for the interns (we will go 2 stories over classes & offices!)
#1 Can you pray for this and about this?
#2 We need work teams, especially in August!
#3 See list attached of items we need as well.
#4 Would you consider giving to this? We really don’t like to ask for $, but it is more fun and easier when we are not asking for ourselves. We are giving our $ to this also. 100% of what you give will go to the project. Almost all the labor is free, and the other labor is a great bargain! HOW to donate financially is below, you can use a credit card, or mail the $ directly to CCSB. Or call us, we will come get it! Thanks for your generousity!
Love you, thank you for praying about this. Be excited with us.
Just do as the LORD LEADS!

Sept 2012

Jajaja (that is laughing in spanish!)

So I learned something last month. What? How to get the fewest responses ever to our update! Tell people we need $! Sorry if that was offensive to anyone. It is always hard to do that, but we are not asking for ourselves, but for the new facility that will serve as a ‘hub’ to planting churches ALL over Mexico! Thanks to ALL who have given generously, who have prayed, and who have come here and helped build! Our 1st service is THIS SUNDAY! Come, celebrate with us! NO, we are not close to being “done”, but our sanctuary and bathrooms will be functioning! Bible College is delayed one week, starting on Sept 7. YES, we still need LOTS more $, so keep praying and giving please.
VERY COOL STORY!

3 years ago, we started a newly married study. Some were young, some ‘young at heart’, but all married about 3 years or less. After about 6 weeks we found out that one couple who was engaged, was living together. After much prayer, we spoke to them about doing this God’s way, and separating until the wedding day! Often this is not a very pleasant conversation. Even after we spoke, I did not know how it went. They did explain they could not afford 2 homes! The very next day, a mature “mother type” opened her home to the bride to be! Shortly after, the groom to be wrote me one of the most meaningful emails I have ever received (yes, I saved it). About 1 year ago, they were legally married in a civil ceremony. Just last Saturday, they had the ‘church wedding’. In Mexico, there is often a LASSO ceremony. A special couple puts a double ‘lasso’ over the couple, to ‘bind them together’, as a sign of oneness as well. They told us, since you asked us to separate, we want you to be the ones to bring us back together! I wish every story had such a happy ending! (I did think of buying chains instead of rope! jaja)

Thanks again for all the prayers and generous support, and encouraging emails we get! We love you and thank you for being part of the “team”, reaching Mexico for Jesus!

Enjoy the photos!

PACKED HOUSE!, the very first week! Probably about 1300 people came to the services that Sunday. The kids classes were not done, so everyone sat in the service. It was a blessing as 2nd service had standing room only! The kids rooms are now done, and several offices are too. Upstairs we have LOTS to do still, probably about 4,000′ that still needs framing, drywall, etc. We are almost finished w/ the area for the interns, but they are already sleeping there. MANY new people at church, decisions of faith, God is blessing! We have plenty of work left to do, and financial needs too. Please let us know if you want to help.

CCBible College going well.
Mission Trip to Maneadero (what language do they speak there?).
Planting a new church, w/ carne asada?
Septic/sewar issues- stinky?

Seems like every semester, people wait until the last minute to sign up for classes. Last January, we had a ‘donut sunday’ if you paid for your class to motivate them. I almost hoped no one would sign up so I could eat them all! We may try it again. 85 students are enrolled in classes like Theology 1, Biblical Counseling, Missions, Matthew, Spiritual Gifts, Church Planting, Minor Prophets, and Parables of Jesus. We have great teachers and students! Thanks for praying. We will have our own CCBC ‘room’ when it is finished.

Oct 19-21 Bonnie & I will lead a team again to Maneadero, to an area where many speak Mixteco, not even spanish! We will do outreaches for Men, Ladies, Kids, Youth, and lead worship & preach on Sunday. After service, we will have a free BBQ for all! What we love is all the planning, preparation, teaching, testimonies, crafts, games, meals, all of it are done, and done well, by our Mexican team. Bonnie and I are cheerleaders! Please pray for growth in our people and those in Maneadero, and for salvation too!

Nov. 11 we ‘plant’ a new church about 30 min away in a new area of 20-30K people and only 2 churches! We would love a team to come down and serve with us for this. It will be at 5pm with a free carne asada BBQ for all. Pastor Martin will be the pastor. He got saved at one of our SB outreaches years ago, and has been our youth pastor for about 5 years. Please be praying.Just found out the county is requiring we connect to sewar at our SB casa (after replacing the septic recently). If you have any suggestions, or know of anyone who does this work well, please let us know. Thanks again for all the prayers and generous support, and encouraging emails we get! We love you and thank you for being part of the “team”, reaching Mexico for Jesus!

34 people in a mini bus & van, traveled 2 hours south to Maneadero, families, couples, singles, teenagers w/o parents, why? To serve the Lord on a mission trip! Before we arrived we had to stop to buy drinking water & corn tortillas (you can not do anything here w/o corn tortillas). Bonnie & I were the only non spanish speakers (I should not say non Mexicans, b/c we are now part Mexican)  It was amazing to see them serve, sacrifice, and love others in Jesus’ name! Read below for a great story about Liza.

Mission Trip to Maneadero great sucess!
Planting a new church, Nov 11, want to help?
Mom’s In Prayer conference, here in Rosarito.
   Taming the Money Mon$ter?

Going back to Germany? This week we got our own CCBC ‘room’ for classes. It is not finished, but it is usable! We will have a projector, sound system, comfortable chairs, and even a small stage! Bonnie will have her ladies BS here each week. This week is Open Week, where all classes are open to the public and church to ‘check out’.Many proclaimed faith (30?) on the mission trip and came to the Sunday service for the first time! Thanks for all the prayers. Carlos & Liza came and brought their 4 kids too. It was a first for them all. You never know how these trips affect people. Liza, who is bilingual, wrote this after the trip (on her FB wall).

“Our family had the honor and privilege to go on a missions trip to Maneadero, Mexico this past weekend. What an amazing and humbling experience — my life was impacted greatly and my heart will never be the same! To see how the people in this small pueblo lived and to think that all I have been blessed with in my life is never enough. This weekend helped me realize how privileged and truly blessed I am. There is no greater blessing than to serve The Lord as a family. Thank you Bonnie & Jeff for your leadership, for making this trip possible and for letting us be a part of the awesome Maneadero missions team!!”
Most people feel the same way when they visit Mexico on mission trips. YOU can come down too. Bring a team or just your family. Always stuff to do, you will be amazed! Maybe, like Liza, changed forever? Pray about it.
Last Sunday we started a 4 week class “Taming the Money Mon$ter”, a biblical view of finances. I spoke on the Baptism of the Holy 2 weeks ago, you can hear or watch it here. http://calvarychapelrosarito.com/pastorsblog/?p=2602
Please be praying. Thanks for praying for our septic/sewer problem. A ‘crappy’ problem, but getting fixed.
Bonnie helped coordinate a Mom’s In Prayer conference, to train and motivate moms to pray in groups for their kids. Over 120 came, a great success! We now have about 10 groups, with more starting! The day after Thanksgiving we head to Germany for 9 days! We were invited to come speak at 3 churches, and the CC Bible College there. I will speak 13 times in the 9 days, and Bonnie will speak 4 times! Pray for lasting ‘fruit’ and good times w/ German friends there. Praise God that ‘miles’ covered most all the airfare! attached is the schedule if interested. Thanks again for all the prayers and generous support, and encouraging emails we get! We love you and thank you for being part of the “team”, reaching Mexico for Jesus! Enjoy the photos, the rainbow was last week in front of the casa!

Dec 2012

We woke up & looked out the window, everything was white, and it was still snowing! Germany seems to be the ‘polar’ opposite of Mexico, in so many ways, and we love both! Thanks for praying, and reading this.

CCBC finals week.
Bonnie’s biopsy for skin cancer was benign, thanks for praying, please pray for David’s health too.
New church going well.
Christmas in Santa Barbara!
Germany was action packed fun and meaningful. We loved seeing friends from 5 years ago, and doing lots of speaking at 6 church services, the Bible college, a homeless group, and 3 special married couples evenings with Bonnie Sue. It was so cold outside, but the people were so warm and welcoming. Bonnie also had a special session with just the ladies of the Bible College. Thanks for praying!
Finals at Bible College end on Wednesday, and next semester is almost completely planned. Pray for our best semester ever.
The new church plant in Las Delicias, has it’s 6th Sunday service tomorrow. There are about 30 adults now attending, and 15 coming to the Tuesday night bible study.  Please keep praying.
We are excited to head north on Dec 21 and spend Christmas with family. We hope to see many of you in the SB area after Christmas until around January 10th. Christmas card addrss below (hint)

We are so thankful that you choose to spend time praying for us and support us as you do. We would not be here without the support of friends and family sharing with us. We hope for you to have a Blessed Christmas and a great New Year in 2013. We love you and thank you for being part of the “team”, reaching Mexico for Jesus! Enjoy the photos.

Long Version
During Christmas we got to spend time with family from both sides, and lots of time with our kids! We miss them, but so glad they are doing great. We DO get to see Monica often as she is still in San Diego. It was fun to help mucho with Danny & Sarah’s new casa! It was a blessing to be at Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara, and be so loved and welcomed. Even after a great time, Mexico does ‘feel’ more like home, and we are excited to be back.
Tomorrow at 4am we head south about 11 hours to the desert of Vizcaino for a Pastor/Leaders conference. I will preach at the CC on Sunday, and Bonnie & I will speak 4 times. On Monday before the conference begins, we plan to go to Scammon’s Lagoon where the whales come each winter to breed! Should be amazing!
We get back on the 25th, that same night with be our first new home group @ our casa! The next am, Bonnie & I will begin teaching our 1st day of the new semester. Bonnie is teaching the Names of God and using Lord, I Want to Know You. She started her English Ladies study today, w/ 30 ladies! I am teaching the book of Acts! We will begin a brand new marriage series in February too.
Monica has been working hard on updating our blog with photos! It goes back 5 years to Germany, Mallorca-Spain, and Uganda too! https://jeffandbonniejohnson.wordpress.com/
Finally, please pray for a translation project. About 6 months ago we began to translate David Guzik’s OUTSTANDING commentary, offered FREE @ enduringword.com. If you have never used it, it rocks! We have Genesis, Amos, in spanish now on the website, and working on Acts. Pray for the right translators, and a job ‘well done’. Thanks.

We are so thankful that you choose to spend time praying for us and support us as you do. We would not be here without the support of friends and family sharing with us. Maybe YOU will come down this year and SEE the amazing things God is doing here! We love you and thank you for being part of the “team”, reaching Mexico for Jesus! Enjoy the photos.

Feb 2013

Have you ever been to a 3 day free conference w/ free food, hotel, where the speakers and cooks pay for it all?

What would happen if a great conference for pastors and leaders was put on, but no one could come? The reality is, these guys have small churches, most work an outside job, and they are craving help. So, this conference is FREE, food is FREE, hotel is FREE, but they do have to get there. Some drove over 10 hours. It took us more than that. Most that helped came from California, many from Napa, and some from Texas! So, where does the $ come from for all the costs? The speakers not only pay their own way, prepare messages, and spend a week there, but help get support for all the pastors/leaders that come! Someone I told this too said, that is so backwards. I agree, and I love it! Thanks to all who support us & pray for us, so we can be a blessing to others! pics
It was a great conference, in Vizcaino, almost 500 miles south of Rosarito. There were about 80 pastor/leaders/wives that came for the 3 days. We studied 1 & 2 Thessalonians, and Bonnie & I taught 4 sessions on marriage. Some of the local people also came the the marriage sessions, and Mimi, who wanted counseling, realized she needed Jesus most, and asked Jesus into her heart! Last week her husband came to church! Also, pray for Oscar, who works at the hotel, as he also proclaimed faith.
Bonnie & I arrived early and I was asked to speak at the Sunday service before the conference. Then, on Monday, we drove about an hour with 7 others to see the whales, where they come to give birth. We saw 100’s of whales! They even swam under our small boat! see a few pics!
There are 4 people that seem qualified and interested in doing the translation work! Please keep praying for this as well!
Please pray for the brand new 8 week marriage series that Bonnie & I begin to teach in February too.

I know we have said this before, but we are so thankful that you choose to spend time praying for us and support us as you do. We would not be here without the support of friends and family sharing with us. Maybe YOU will come down this year and SEE the amazing things God is doing here! We love you and thank you for being part of the “team”, reaching Mexico for Jesus! Enjoy the photos.

The greatest man in the world was killed, but even that could not stop Him or His love. How does that affect the way you and I live?
Bonnie & I want to live life on purpose, serving Jesus and loving people. It is a blessing beyond words. Thank you for praying & supporting this work. It is making a difference for eternity!
Aside from preaching and teaching, we led another mission team 3 hours south to San Vicente. A former student (who married another former student) is now the pastor there since October. We did youth, kids, men’s, & women’s events, a soccer outreach, taught and led worship at the Sunday service & Sunday school classes! What a blessing to see so many from our church take steps of faith and serve their fellow Mexican people. There were several proclamations of faith, and when I spoke to the pastor a week later, he told me how encouraged his church and the youth were! Now they want to go on their own mission trip! Our people are already asking about the next one.
I have one fantastic translator, and still hoping to find 2-3 more, for the Guzik bible commentary project. Please keep praying for this as well!
Thanks for praying for the marriage group. We are about 1/2 way through it. There are many hurting marriages, but God is working!
For Easter Sunday we expect as many as 1500 people at our services. Our church has grown by several hundred since the new building was usable in September. Most of them seem to be new to the faith. We still have plenty of work to finish our building too, as funds and people are available. Pray for great Easter services this Sunday all over the WORLD!
Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara is here right now with the youth group. Besides lots of taco eating, they have been working, going to orphanages, doing teachings & testimonies! I always know, these trips have an eternal impact on so many!

I know we have said this before, but we are so thankful that you choose to spend time praying for us and supporting us as you do. We would not be here without the support of friends and family sharing with us. Maybe YOU will come down this year and SEE the amazing things God is doing here! We love you and thank you for being part of the “team”, reaching Mexico for Jesus! Enjoy the photos. 1. friends wedding. 2. boat race. 3. dinner w/ Rosarito friends. 4. dinner w/ Ken & Linda from SB. 5. May 2013
Happy Cinco de Mayo (they actually do NOT celebrate it in Mexico, but Sept 16)

So many answers to prayer! Thanks mucho for praying!

Short Version-
Easter was awesome, probably had 1500!
Got 3 new translators for the Guzik commentary project!
After 24 days, we got electricity AND more good news…
Monica is NOT going to Papua New Guinea.
Long Version: Prayer Requests
– The last month we have seen many new people at church, many first time decisions for Jesus, pray for “good soil” to grow & bear fruit.
– We now have 4 translators for this project, all working part time. About 6 chapters a week are being done, which would be about 300 a year. We already have about 100 chapters done, but there are almost 1200 chapters, so we have a ways to go!
– So we finally got the power back on, I had to pay $500 and promise to pay $2715 by May 1. They did offer payments over a year, with over 13% interest! The landlord graciously paid the amount due by May 1. The day I came home from paying the $500 and getting the power back, our neighbor came home (it is a vacation house). I told him someone was stealing his power, he said “who”? I said ME! He was totally fine with it, and I told him we would pay whatever he needed, as it was great to have a refrigerator working. I got to pray with him to ask Jesus in his heart about 2 years ago, and he assured me he is still reading his bible!
– Monica is NOT going to Papua New Guinea. As a leader, they needed more people to make it worth her going, so she is not going. Do pray that the Lord would provide a full time teaching job for her!
– Thanks too for praying for marriages and the marriage class. The class ended well, and now we are doing some extra counseling with some of the couples.
– Bonnie has about 10 new Mom’s in Prayer groups going! Bonnie has been involved in this for about 20 years.
Classes end soon, summer school starts the next week, then we have a Married Couples Conference with David & Inga-Lill Guzik. Then summer ministry begins, which includes working with 4 Calvary Chapels in Sweden & Finland (we helped there 5 years ago) & 6 weeks in Santa Barbara.
Thanks again for all the prayers & encouragement!
PS. the weeks at our ‘casa’ are filling up, but we still have some openings!

Hej (Hi in Swedish),
Thanks to for all and any prayers for the ministry in Sweden & Finland. God did more than we even hoped for! The churches & people were so wonderful & gracias! Below are two of many comments…. and some cool photos too! Thanks for reading and PRAYING!

A lady in Sweden…

“Oh Bonnie, you both are so precious to show such appreciation but the boat ride is really just a small thank you for what both of you had to sacrifice of both time and money to come all the way to Scandinavia to minister to us! We have been so blessed you don’t know!!”
A man from Finland…
“Jeff and Bonnie, it was really nice to having met you guys here. The speeches you gave were important for me, which just “happened to” address my personal problems which I have been struggling with. So I really appreciate your work here.”
Our goals were to strengthen & encourage the pastors/leaders & the body there. We focused on teaching the Word, (about 18 times) and loving the people! What a joy! Flying in, both countries looked like giant golf courses, SO GREEN! The first week we stayed with Pastor Joel & Alex in Sweden. Joel started the Stockholm church about 5 years ago. Although small, the church is very healthy. We would not be surprised if it experiences new growth soon! We did take 2 days & a night to visit Simeon & Alex (wife) about 4 hours away. We got to do their premarital counseling 5 years ago in Germany. They are now expecting their 3rd child in Aug, and hoping to begin meetings for a church plant soon as well!
The ship from Sweden to Turku, Finland was a great 11 hour ride. We saw 1000’s of islands on the way! Pastor Bob picked us up @ the docks. We had spent 11 days with him & the church there 5 years ago. It was great to be back and see old friends and meet many new ones. He also leads the church 2 hours away in Helsinki. Both churches are growing & also healthy. I am personally praying the Turku church could find an affordable meeting place downtown! It was great to bike, enjoy lakes, eat with friends, and see God work there.
We are now enjoying Santa Barbara for one more month. Looking forward to seeing all our SB friends! Today was our first Married Couples class “Staying Close”. Please pray for MIRACLES the next 3 weeks we teach. Bonnie & I are also involved in other bible studies & groups.
Again, thanks for your prayers, encouragement & support!

Hola de Rosarito, Mexico!

Short Version
Had a blast in SB, back in Mexico.
Monica had surgery, and starts her new job!
  Bible college starts this week.
Longer Version
We are grateful for a blessed time in SB with so many friends and our home church. Thanks for praying for our time, and the studies we got to teach while there as well. It is wonderful to be in Mexico, and finally unpack after 9 weeks. The house we rent here is for sale, but lately there has been many looking at it. Pray for God’s will in this area.
Our daughter, Monica, had a tumor removed from her neck in a 3 hr surgery last week. We are still praying it is benign, as we wait for results. She also has her first day as 5th grade teacher at Horizon Christian Academy on Tuesday! We now must call her Miss Johnson!
Looks like we will have another 100 students this semester, as we offer 11 classes at the Bible College here in Rosarito. I am also teaching in Ensenada too. Bonnie is expanding her women’s study to include more Spanish speakers. Pray for ‘fruit’ from this.
Photos
1. The family together in SB.
2. Helping w/ baptism here in Rosarito. About 50 baptized this summer! plus 15 at one of our local church plants.
3. Our nightly sunsets.
4. Helping at a wedding last Friday night with good friends.
5. Local outreach last Sat, about 17 proclamations of faith.
6. We are honored to be your representatives serving Jesus and the people of Mexico. Thank you for the bottom of our hearts!

Que pasa amigos!

Short Version
  Sandra & kids.
  Bonnie hit by a car.
Mission trip to San Rafael (near San Vicente)
We gotta move to another casa.
Longer Version
Sandra’s husband died over 3 years ago from cancer. She was left with little $ and 4 daughters, 13, 11, 7, & 4. Sandra’s niece now lives there too, after her sister died. Sandra loves Jesus and works hard, loves to laugh, but struggles to provide for her family. They are like family, and help her in several ways. One way is groups come down & want to ‘serve’. A group is coming this month to help Sandra’s family. She has leaking faucets, leaking roof, no doors on some rooms, and a damaged septic tank (that is the short list). The irony of it all is when groups come down to bless others, they go home super blessed! It is a GOD thing! Is the Lord tugging at your heart? Gotta love a win/win! (see photo, Sandra & kids)
We were in Santa Barbara just 3 days, to help Bonnie’s mom with a big move from Cupertino to SB. The am we were to leave, Bonnie got hit from behind while riding a bike by a careless driver (she was caught). Bonnie suffered a concussion (was very ‘loopy’ for about 24 hours, and a broken elbow w/ all the cuts & bruises. After a week, she is doing better, but elbow is still in pain, but less daily. Thanks for all the prayers & encouragement from so many. She can start using her arm again around Thanksgiving. (see photo, Bonnie & her mom)
Friday the 11th, we head south, with 20 others from CCR, about 4 hours, to help a former student reach the area he pastors. Again, our Mexican amigos will do all the teachings, testimonies, organizing, etc. Because there is no language barrier, we accomplish much more than most teams from the US! Please pray for a “fruitful” trip.
After almost 3 years renting a ‘dream’ house, we must move next week, the 18th. Bonnie is currently at the Pastors Wives retreat in Murrieta Hot Springs, and returns on Wed. Friday am we leave on the mission trip. There are some other exciting events happening as well, so please continue to remember us in prayer, for strength, wisdom, and lots of love to share with others.
We are honored to be your representatives serving Jesus and the people of Mexico. Thank you & love you from the bottom of our hearts!

Wounded Warriors

Last Sunday we were 4 hours south, on a mission trip, w/ 20 from CCR, in a remote village where one of my former students is the pastor. It was a very blessed time, no running water or showers 4 3 days. just b4 service on Sunday, while folding a table, my left ring finger got cut off about 1/2″. Sadly, it took 4 hours to get to hospital, so they could not re attach it. That Dr wanted to cut it even more & make a stub. I said no. I had VERY little pain the next 4 days (no meds). Thursday I had some reconstructive surgery, by a plastic surgeon in Rosarito, (that night I had much pain, no pain since!). Please pray that it heals well, & I can play guitar again, & everything else. I can barely type, so I may not get too respond, but your prayers & replies are special.

PS. we had lots of help moving to a new casa on Friday, but unloading as wounded warriors (see photo) is a challenge (something others really can not do).

Wounded Warriors Part 2 Nov 2013

Dear Caring n Praying Friends,

We are doing just fine & healing! Thanks for the MANY responses & prayers, they are all awesome. Sorry about the lack of response, but typing is VERY hard for at least 2 weeks longer. Fortunately, neither of us have had much pain!

For those who want more details, read on, with some photos below (nothing gory).

After 3 weeks, we removed Bonnie’s elbow splint. She had almost no motion, and new pain. She is doing PT 3 times a week, & is improving after 2 weeks. She has 2 pins & a plate that need to be removed in 6-10 months.

Last Thursday, I had new surgery on my finger. They did a LIVE skin graft from my other finger, and cut them apart, sewed them back up, did another skin graph from my forearm. It is healing, but sensitive. Dr. said I could surf in 10 days. I would love to, but not sure that will happen until Dec.
Our new casa is good, but we have only unpacked about 1/2 of our ‘junk’, the the other 1/2 can wait! We continue to teach, preach, & outreach!
Our son, Danny & Sarah are now blessed to be foster parents to a newborn. Sarah is now home full time. Monica is working hard, and loving her own 5th grade class. They love her too.

from Bonnie Sue….
We really appreciate you being on our team down here in Mexico. October has been a wild month. Pictures tell a thousand words so I wanted to just let you see the highlights of the month!
We came to SB to move my mom there. She has lived in the bay area for 55 years so it has been a big move. She loves her mobile home and as you know my last morning I was riding to her house on my bike and got hit by a car. (photo #2) I had the surgery and was able to make it back to our first English Speakers women’s retreat. It was such a blessing to have so many ladies for our Hawaiian theme retreat! (#3) I went to Monica’s on my way to the Pastor’s wive’s retreat in Murrietta. I got to see Monica in action teaching 5th grade in San Diego. (#4). One of the speakers at the retreat was Saeed’s wife Nagmeh. He has been in an Iranian prison and being persecuted. She brought us all to tears, my ladies in Mex have been praying every week for him.(#5)  Then we went on a mission trip to San Rafael about 4 hours south. It is a small new Calvary Chapel that is pastored by one of our students who graduated from the Ensenada campus when we taught there. (#6 and 7) This is where Jeff cut off his finger 1/2″ on a table.
We had a team from Irvine come to help us work on Sandra’s home. (#8, 9) She is a widow and has 5 girls. We love her as our daughter and her kids are like our grandkids. She is very special and it was so fun to be an encouragement to her yesterday.
God provided a great home just a block away and we can still see the ocean from the balcony! We have room for you to visit too! (photo #10)

Feliz Navidad a todos! Dec 2013
Bonnie & I hope that JESUS is your reason for this season! We are so grateful for ALL He has done for us! We thank you for holding us up in prayers, encouragement & finances this year. We are healing! I got to surf yesterday! We both have very restricted motion. Bonnie hopes to have surgery on Dec 23 in SB to have the pins removed (months before we thot!), as long as  the xray shows healing.

Johnson Missionary Adventures Feb 2014

Saludos de Baja!

We are so blessed, and hope that you are doing great as well! Bonnie & I thank you again for all the prayers, support and encouragement. So much has happened since we last wrote. We finished finals and many Christmas events in Rosarito & Santa Barbara with family. We had some great ministry opportunities in SB, but also wonderful family time, and rest  too.
We just returned from Vizcaino, 500 miles south, speaking 3 days at a Pastors/Leaders conference on marriage. The Lord may be expanding that ministry, so we will see how He leads in that area. Classes began the day after we returned, and are going well! Classes in Ensenada start this week.

Valentine’s Day is coming, and we are having a romantic evening planned for the couples at Calvary Chapel Rosarito, with dinner! In March, we will go south of Mexicali on another trip with a team from CCR. Several groups will also be here from S. Cal, that we are also excited about. They will help with orphanages, outreach, and projects. One project will be another house build for Sandra, a widow with 5 daughters!

Finally, we would like to once again thank you for your partnership with our family and ministry throughout this past year. It is through your prayers that we are strengthened spiritually, and it is through your financial partnership that God provides for our needs!

Johnson Missionary Adventures April 2014- BIG NEWS

Buenos Dias,
Last month you heard from Bonnie Sue. We have BIG NEWS this month.
Short Version (prayer requests below)
– classes & teachings/preachings going well.
Mission trip S of Mexicali, w/ 33 people, successful!
– Fun visit from the youth at CCSB (Santa Barbara) last week, & some OLD friends.
– Summer Ministry in Germany
– Fall semester in JERUSALEM!
Longer version
Oscar, my prior assistant at the bible college left to start a new church about 8 months ago. We got to be there to kick off the very first Sunday service. There were about 40 local adults there, and about 50 kids. 2 highlights for me. Aaron, was 15 when we moved here, and now takes bible college classes. He was asked to lead one of the bible studies on the trip. WOW, it was SO GOOD, I am excited about his future. A couple that joined us, Pablo y Marta, recently saved at CCR, joined us w/o their kids. They cried at the end, thanking God for being able to go, and planning to bring their 3 kids on the next one!
54 kids & leaders ‘invaded’ Rosarito last week. They cleaned, nailed, sang, played, painted, transformed, evangelized, loved, crafted, and ‘got dirty 4 God’. I am sure they all went home a bit different than they arrived. Hard to believe a few days can make such lasting changes. MAYBE God wants to use YOU to bless others and go home TOTALLY BLESSED? ALSO, we got to hang out w/ Tim & Mary Bedley & family, Tim & I did Jr Hi ministry over 30 years ago! Even though he is OLD, the Bedley’s ROCK.
2 couples that we met with every week in Siegen, Germany, 6 years ago, have started a new Calvary Chapel in Munster, Germany. May 19 we fly to assist them for a month! We will also speak at the Siegen Leadership conference too! We will only be in SB about 25 days this summer. Why?
We want to get back to Mexico a few weeks before we go to Jerusalem for the fall semester! I get to direct the Bible College there! Visas are only for 90 days, so we return before Thanksgiving, and we will keep our home in Mexico during this time.
Prayer
That we continue to faithfully serve here, as we prepare for these other opportunities.
That people would see JESUS in us, and we walk in the Spirit, not in our own strength.
Continued healing for my finger (hoping to be able to play guitar by summer?). Bonnie seems pretty well healed!
We need some house sitting in SB for July 1-25 we would love to watch your pets

THANKS so much, we LOVE doing what we do, and are thankful for all the prayers, encouragement, & support that makes us a TEAM!

Enjoy the photos.

Guten tag from Germany,
Short Version
– Summer Ministry in Germany going well.
– Spring semester ended well in Mexico, summer school started.
– Fall semester in JERUSALEM!
– Prayer request for our daughter Monica.
Longer version
We have been in Germany 2 weeks now. Yesterday I got to give the message in Siegen for all 3 services, this is where we taught 6 years ago. The week before in Siegen was the leadership conference put on by CC Santa Barbara. We were a part of that team too. It was well attended and very well received! It was a blessing for us to see many old friends! While in Munster (2 hours away), we are serving with 2 of the couples we met with each week while in Siegen 6 years ago. Chris is the pastor, and Daniel one of the elders. Tonight we get to go on a triple date! This church is doing well, especially as it is only 4 years old. Lots of students come, but many families too. We have many more speaking engagements, and time with the church here. Pray that we use it all well for His glory!

On May 18, Elvia was our 1st graduate from our Bible College in Rosarito. She is a mother of 2 and works too. It took her over 4 years, but she did well! Her son also graduated from our Ensenada campus the same week! We now have summer school. This fall I have found an interim director while we are in Jerusalem. Thanks for praying for our school, we have several that hope to graduate in the next year!

We are very excited to spend 3 months in Jerusalem, inside the wall! I will be directing the bible college there. We leave Aug 19! We will only be in SB from July 1-26, then in Mexico until Aug 19th.

Monica was

not able to be rehired due to low enrollment at a Christian school. 😦

She has an interview this Thursday, and loves teaching, so pray for His will for her life please.

THANKS so much, we LOVE doing what we do, and are thankful for all the prayers, encouragement, & support that makes us a TEAM!
Enjoy the photos.

– Calvary Chapel Langley (near Vancouver) invited us to lead their marriage conference. We have good friends planting a CC in Vancouver who are also helping with the conference. Pray our marriage stays strong. Satan would love to get us off track, especially with all these conferences!
– we are now in a friends apartment, with boxes stacked to the ceiling, while looking, praying about where, when to move, rent or even buy! We are tired of moving! Pray for wisdom please.

Hola Amigos!
Short Version:
My cast is off and arm is healing!
Romantic Couples night at church in Rosarito was a success.
Went to Vancouver Canada teaching at a marriage conference.
Starting Sun. a 10 wk Song of Solomon class for married couples.
Mission trip with 30 people to Ojos Negros March 13-15.
Danny and Sarah involved in Orphan care ministry at CCSB.
Monica teaching English in Israel this summer.
Uganda in May 11 – June 8 Room for one more, want to come?
Need to move in April, pray for new place to live!
We love you all!!!
Long Version:

I got my cast off and am doing lots of therapy. It is moving and exciting to almost be able to touch my nose. Each day I can do more with it!

We had a good time teaching on communication at our Romantic Valentines dinner in Rosarito with over 100 people. (photos below) We had the youth from the orphanage serve us and they dressed in black and white. The teens took photos for each couple in a photo booth too, such fun!
Then for Valentines weekend we flew to Vancouver Canada where our friends Rob and Cindy Lee who we served with in Mexico are from. We taught a marriage conference at their church. She wrote this tonight, “I have heard from 2 more couples how the conference was really what they needed. I hear them encouraging others with what they learned.” We had 4 simple things for homework: Pray every night, talk 15 min a day, kiss for 10 seconds every day and go on a date once a week. It is easy but if we do it all it sure helps our marriages! Our week was really great in Canada and we enjoyed getting to know those in the church.
We are back enjoying teaching in Rosarito at the bible college. This Sunday we’ll start a class for married couples for 10 weeks on Song of Solomon. Will you pray for us as we prepare for it?
March 13-15 we’ll take 30 to Ojos Negros about 21/2 hours south on a mission trip. The Calvary Chapel there is about 2 years old and was started by a couple that we both taught in bible college in Ensenada. We could use prayer as we lead that team and serve there.
Danny and Sarah will be meeting with pastors and church leaders to help out with the orphan care ministry at CCSB on Thurs. Continue to pray for them and their foster kids Lucca 16 mo and Ayla 5 yr.
Monica continues to enjoy teaching 3rd grade at the Public Charter Hebrew emphasis school in SD. She will teaching English in Israel this summer with 4 of the teachers from her school.
The last photo is of us and Lindsey and Bryan Howe at the beach here this weekend. They came down from CCSB and will be going with us to Uganda in May 11 – June 8. Michelle from Mexico will also be going. We can bring 6 people and have room for one more so pray if you may want to join us?!!!! Pray with us as we prepare for teaching VBS, women’s, men’s, singles and married couples nights and Wed and Sunday services there.
Our last request is for housing. We need to be out of our apartment in April and don’t leave for Uganda till May so we need a place for the month. We’ll be in SB for 6 weeks in the summer so we’ll need a place in Mexico when we come back in Aug. We have looked around and even put an offer on a place to buy but nothing has opened up. We know God is faithful and so we are waiting on Him!
Thanks again for all your love and prayers! love Bonnie and Jeff

Change in MOVING details!

Bible College Transition, new director?

We love you all!!!
Long Version:

– Thanks for all the prayers! God has heard them, & is answering!

– The married couples class has been great & well attended. It is so hard as some couples are really struggling! – The mission we found out is a where many drugs are cultivated. The young pastor, wife & baby are now established, & shining for Jesus! We still were able to knock on many doors,& pray with several to receive Jesus. Our team did fantastic & all were blessed.

– We thot we had to move in April, but now we can stay until Nov! Thanks for praying. We still hope for a LONG TERM solution, which maybe buying? We found a nice house just TODAY, that would be a nice rental (hoping we don’t have to keep moving). Keep praying please

– Our semester ends in May & I will be handing the reins over to a friend & co worker here in Rosarito. We will both continue to teach,& I will also keep teaching in Ensenada too. One of our goals is to train up others. I will spend some of that time coordinating mission projects & home groups.

– Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara were here this week. A very impressive group of 60 who worked hard, worshiped harder, and were lots of fun too

Thanks as always for each & every prayer. They are awesome!

Hello from Santa Barbara!
Short Verizon.
1. Uganda was awesome.
2. Bike ride from Santa Cruz to Santa Barbara w/ Danny & family
3. In SB until end of month, relaxing, visiting, teaching too.

4. Please pray for my mom, she had a stroke, and has a large tumor in her brain.
Long Version
1. So great to visit so many in Uganda, especially those who were part of the church, now as a pastor of a church! We went to many churches, I spoke 35 times in 27 days, Bonnie spoke many times as well. Our ‘team’ was a great blessing to many as well! Thanks for praying and “sending” us. Photo with our African kids
2. 5 days after returning, Monica, Danny & Sarah came with us to Santa Cruz for a family vacation. Danny & I biked all the way to Santa Barbara, while the ladies (w/ 2 month old ‘Georgia’) drove. A great time was had by all, although Danny & I had sore buns.

Also, pray for Monica as she is in Jerusalem for a month, teaching English, and taking it all in! cool pics.

3. We are now in SB, house sitting, dog sitting, visiting many, and doing some teaching too. Bonnie is leading a women’s study, I am helping with a men’s group, and we are teaching Song of Solomon: The Ultimate Love Life, for 4 weeks at CCSB. Last Sunday was our first class, and we think it went well! Prayers appreciated. We also enjoyed our 35th anniversary! (see photo)
4. Please pray for my mom, she had a stroke, and has a large tumor in her brain.

We do not know the complete diagnosis yet, but we will go to Orange county on Tuesday to visit.

We plan to stay “closer to home” the next 12 months. We only lived in our new casa in Mexico, 3 days, before we left! We lead a marriage conference in Rosarito when we get back, and then will begin classes for the bible college in Rosarito & Ensenada.
We hope that you enjoy God’s grace this summer. Thanks again for all the prayers, encouragement & love! We love you!

2. My mom begins chemo & radiation Aug 10. She is already very weak, please keep praying. We plan to visit much more often.

Buenos Noches de Rosarito!

Short Version

1. Marriage Conf in Rosarito was great.

2. Keep praying for my mom, no real change.

3. Traveling south for more marriage conferences. Beach house in Rosarito available to rent!

4. Casa for Sandra & 5 daughters, done & dedicated.

5. Baptisms & Bible College are happening.

6. Kids: It’s a BOY! Keep praying for a healthy baby in Jan, and the adoption to go through for Danny & Sarah. Monica is back with a new class of 3rd graders, & attending bible college part time.

Longer Version

1. Rob McCoy from Calvary Chapel in Thousand Oaks did a great job teaching, and many were blessed. We encourage all couples to ‘invest’ in their marriage at least once a year, by attending a retreat, conference or special teaching!

2. Chemo & radiation were delayed by pneumonia for 2 weeks. She is still very weak. We have been visiting every 2 weeks. While up last Sat, I also did a memorial service and we attended a wedding. (after doing a wedding Fri pm in Rosarito).

Bonnie sez we R crAzY!

3. We have been invited to do 2 other marriage conferences. In October, we plan to bring a small team to S. Baja, and we will speak at 8 different churches, all about 600 miles south of us. Then in Nov, we will fly to Cabo for another conference that 3 or more churches that will join together for. Hoping to catch a wave while there too! The casa will be available Oct 11-20, and Nov 5-9, if you or someone you trust wants to rent it, cheap! (& it helps pay for our ministry trips)

4. After a repair project almost 2 years ago for a widow, Sandra,w/ 5 kids at church, she now has a brand new house! I could hardly stop crying as we dedicated the casa. Part of our goal is to help the family be self sufficient.

5. Last Sunday over 30 were baptized in the WARM Pacific (about 75), making over 100 baptized this summer. Bible college has started here in Rosarito & Ensenada. Bonnie is teaching Joshua 2x, once in English only, once translated. I am helping teach the Church Planting course, with 18 men, all planning to plant a church someday. Pray for us and them! So exciting! In Ensenada I am teaching Genesis to 43 students. The quality of these students has really improved. With some ‘extra’ $ from building Sandra’s casa, we were able to send her oldest to Ensenada for Bible College!

6. All is going well regarding the future adoption of “Georgia” now 4.5 months. And the baby is a BOY! Exciting. Monica has 19 3rd grade students at a public “Hebrew” school in San Diego. She also began a “School of Transformation” as a part time student for 9 months.

Thanks for reading along, praying & being a part of what GOD is doing! God bless you!

  1. All 8 of us were very blessed on the 10 day, 1500 mile trip to Baja Sur. Even though we had many van problems, we made it. We were 2 hours late to one church, but they were ALL still there. A free dinner after the service MAY have helped too? We saw marriages healed, proclamations of faith in each church, and great unity on our team. It was nice to get “home”.

Thanks for praying.

Cabo Conference went well. We ended with a training for Pastors & leaders on how to do marriage counseling. The turnout was over double what we expected, and there were pastors from at least 6 churches there. Weather was fantastic, Bonnie did lots of ‘goggling’, (no snorkel), surf was not happening.

  1. 19 of us went to Culican, all from our church here in Rosarito (hopefully we can get some US folks to Mazatlan in Nov?). This new Calvary Chapel is doing very well. We saw about 20 adults proclaim faith, & made great progress on SS classrooms & sound improvements for sanctuary. Keep praying for wisdom & time management for Pastor Hugo as he is also a full time sales manager, & has a family too! We plan to take a TEAM (you?) to Mazatlan around Nov 14-21, to LAUNCH the new Calvary Chapel Nov 20! Pastor Tony already is building a team, and he will move there in Sept.

see Pic #1, #4.

  1. Otto is an amazing little guy who is growing well. However, he was born with a unique syndrome that requires a lot of special attention and medical appointments. This year will be a lot of work. 2. English Ladies reaching out.

3. Giving for land for Pastor Martin’s church, going great, still need!

4. Rosarito Beach house available to rent.

  1. Available to house sit this summer!

Longer Version   1. We are excited to head south of Ensenada with 27 from our church to serve a Calvary Chapel that ministers mainly to Mixteco farm workers from Oaxaca. We will do a marriage, kids, womens, men’s, & youth outreach, as well as  do Sunday school & worship, teaching the main service. The others will be leading, teaching, etc, except Jeff & I will do the marriage teaching. What a blessing to see this group come together! The guys also plan to repair a leaky roof! Pastor Mel was one of Jeff’s students in the Bible college in Ensenada, and he discipled him for a year too. Please PRAY for a FRUITFUL trip, that people would truly be saved, and grow!

  1. My main ministry is to women who speak English in Rosarito (many are bilingual). We consistently have 40-50 ladies at the study. 20+ just returned from a full day outreach yesterday in E. TJ, and we have another one planned May 7th in Playas! (2 photos below)  I love seeing my ladies serve and give of their time and talents!
  2. Jeff & I are so excited about the response so far, many of you are praying, and we have $11,405, with $3000 MORE committed, once we reach the goal.  We need only 15K NOW, and have a YEAR to get the other 15K. SO, we are SO CLOSE! PLEASE, pray, ask the LORD if YOU should be giving too? $1000, $50, or $10,000? Wewould LOVE to get the entire 30K NOW? Jeff thought about GOFUNDME, but there is no write off with this, AND they take 7.9%. You CAN use your CC, info below. We think Martin’s church will double or even triple in size in the first year or 2 after they have their own building! Please Pray! Thanks again! I am teaching 2 Corinthians at bible college this semester. This week I taught ch 9 how Paul encourages them to give to the poor church in Jerusalem in a famine. The Corinthians were rich but reluctant in their giving so Paul encourages them to be “cheerful” givers! 2 Corn 9:7 our memory verse for the week  “God loves a cheerful giver!” We are blessed by so many of you giving to Martin’s church!!  Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara  1 Calle Cesar Chavez #21    SB, Ca 93103

We will move into her mobile home in San Vicente park in SB.

Of course the grandkids (not to forget Danny & Sarah) are a big draw! Hopefully we will see Monica at least as often as we do now? God is truly doing supernatural things at CC Rosarito, and it has been amazing to be a part of it. It is customary to continue support for a few months when a missionary returns. We are still about $8000 short on the land for Pastor Martin. We have prayed, and would like to ask that if you would CONTINUE to give, we will give the $ to Martin. Based on normal giving, we would

have the 8K in about 4 months. THANKS again for all your giving, blessing us and MANY others. Please PRAY about this opportunity too! We also have LONG term IDEAS for giving, helping our ‘local’ pastors in Mexico.

Please ask us!
